Vehicle Detail
This car is my personal daily driven car. I built this the way I personally like old things built. The car lived in eastern oregon its whole life, the sun has burned the paint on the exterior just perfectly. Many try and fake what this car is......genuine. The steel is in great shape, the battery tray had a typical rust hole that I just welded a steel patch in. This car runs a 36hp 6volt motor and it comes with a 40 horsepower longblock as something to build up that would be more correct. The whole car is original paint except the decklid. We painted the lid with actual vw vintage synthetic both the grey and the red match wonderfully. It also comes with a nice original paint decklid in ruby red (it was too nice and didnt match the patina of the rest of the car). Theres a bunch of extra parts all original stuff and original paint/correct for the car and they are all included. The car is very complete and correct, original tool kit, original owners manual etc. I have driven it all over the state of Oregon for a couple yrs now. It has a new headliner that has a couple small stains that im sure can come out. The seats were recovered and we used the best quality correct covers and coco fiber padding. If you don't use the cocofiber the seats wont sit or look right, upolstry shops always blow it and use foam which isn't comfortable and it looks like a balloon with too much air. The headliner has the original cocofiber moisture pad, anything else used here will not act the same and there will be issues that form later if cocofiber is not used. I spent many hours cleaning the car inside and out, then dismantled it. Before reassembly I waxoiled all the cavities and between all the fender beading, this will insure a excellent preservation method for many years. The "zoll" front license plate is correct and original. These were fitted to tourist cars while on holiday in germany, often this was a "tourist program" car these were fitted to. I have been pulled over by police before and the officers didn't see anything wrong with the front plate. Mostly the comments about the car are "holy crap, cool car!". Much to my surprise I have even had an elderly couple wait outside while at ace hardware. When I got to the car they said "really great car son,we love that you didn't paint it". I am really surprised how many folks love it just the way it is. There is a modern 12volt stereo mounted in the glove box, this gets power regulated by a 6 to 12v inverter which is turned on or off at the dash. There is a stock vw switch mounted to the right of the ashtray that turns the inverter on,it looks very stock because it is a stock switch. The fender beading is the right color not the wrong red that is sold everywhere. It has a rack and it is very vintage and very sturdy. I have had some great adventures with the car,it is a magnet to other old stuff. On one little expedition my mother and I drove all day in no particular direction and found a teen era all original elgin bike and seperately but on the same trip a 1944 indian motorcycle in all original condition..........This car will find you other old original things, just drive it. The empi door pulls are originals,so are the real german sculpted eyebrows. It has all new rubber and felt kits installed using the original chrome to match patina. The safety liscense topper comes on with the headlights. I installed a 6volt headlight relay to the highbeam headlight circut. This regulates the voltage so your headlight and ignition switches dont take the load/heat. This system lets you have nice bright headlights and cool never scorched switches. I recently decided to change direction with my collecting and the beetle doesn't fit in anymore. It is not perfect but almost much better, little dents and dings only look charming on this car. If you want a car with a new shiney paint job buy another car,if you want something genuine that stops hearts and makes one think...........bid. The windshield has a crack,I am including a spare uncracked windshield. The suspension was rebuilt a couple yrs ago,it also has newer gas shocks. This car has never been lowered or modified from stock since its birth. Personally I love the way the stock cars ride and perform. Modifying always steals that "time travel" experience I enjoy so much. Two of the wheels are repainted as well as the spare. I did find a third wheel in original paint but it was after I had built it up. The extra original paint wheel is included so that makes three repainted and three original paint. The beauty rings are originals and it has all four intact. The car can only be sold as is where is. While it has always behaved with us it is still an old car and anything can happen at any time. The single breakdown it has had was a clogged carburetor when it was just weeks "reborn". Clean, fresh Oregon title in hand. We have shipped many cars all over the globe with positive results on all transactions. Feel free to ask any questions you have,we don't hide anything or make false statements to sell a car. 503 668 8327
