I am selling my fathers 1988 BMW 535is because of lack of use and the need for the money. I own a well respected BMW and MINI repair shop in Berkeley and have done quite a bit of work to this vehicle. When we purchased this car about 7 years ago and have been slowly making it mechanically very nice. The interior is in nice shape for its age as well as both seats are nice and straight as well as bolsters intact and not broken like usual. The stereo is the factory unit and works well as does the factory amp in the trunk. Standard wear and tear for a vehicle this age but when it comes to the mechanical side its nice and tight. **Here is a list of the repairs done since the purchase of the vehicle - Complete pedal support bracket as well as the brake master cylinder replaced with BMW dealer direct parts from Weatherford BMW - The transmission was replaced with a used transmission due to a bad 2nd gear syncro, at the same time we replaced the complete clutch assembly, resurfaced the flywheel and re-mounted the trans with new mounts and flexdisc. - Complete rear subframe removal and rebush due to worn bushings as well as differential servicing and resealing with BMW dealer direct parts from Weatherford BMW - Both front and rear brakes have been done within the year and done correctly with BMW dealer direct parts from Weatherford BMW - Steering linkage is nice and tight as well as the power steering system working well with no noise what so ever. - Recently replaced the two short cooler feed hoses located behind the drivers side front gril due to minor leak - All fluid fresh from brake fluid - Brand new muffler with less than 5 miles on it due to it being a smog requirement (OEM equipment) - Valve adjustments completed evert 20-25k miles as well as recent BOSCH distributor cap, distributor rotor and the best NGK spark plugs (Bosch spark plug quality have gone down hill) - Smog test proves how well the car is running, not just passed but passed with flying colors! - Water pump has been replaced withing the past 2 years as well as the radiator. Graf water pump and Behr radiator once again done correctly along with the drive belts. - Both the control arms as well as the thrust arms are very nice and tight but were done about 4-5 years ago with Lemforder factory equipment from Pelican Parts. Theere is NO shake or shimmy when braking from any speed. **Items worth mentioning - All lighting from interior glovebox to ALL exterior light working and in good condition except for the front fog light that is missing WHICH IS INCLUDED in the sale. - COMPLETE TOOL BOX with the polish rag that has never been used. Every single tool as well as the bulbs and fuse holder (VERY RARE) - No major or minor accident repairs but the front half of the vehicle has been repainted from the front door lines forward, this paint could use a respray to improve the look - All doors and trunk and hood shut correctly as well as lines are correct, not a Frankenstiened want to be "is" - Rear spoiler in great condition as "HAS NOT BEEN" armoralled to death cuasing premature cracking. - Sunroof fully functional with no hitch or isses as well and the vent option working correctly *****To whom ever chooses to use the BUY IT NOW option will recieve a near perfect FACTORY BMW front facia with fog lights and all from a recent wreck we salavaged worth $500-$600 alone.
