Vehicle Detail
Clean 71 Spitfire with GT6 running gear (2.0 ltr 6 cylinder). The body on the car is in really great condition with no rust. The rocker panels and floor pans are clean and solid. Inside the trunk is super clean as well as down inside the rear fenders. The car is fitted with 1971 GT6 running gear. The engine has aparently been rebuilt and runs sweet. I say 'apparantly' as the engine was rebuilt before I bought it however I don't have receipts for this but have called the engine shop who said it was rebuilt but wasnt of much help to be honest but the original person who had the motor done has passed away so I havent been able to ask direct questions so its 3rd hand info. I can confirm however the car runs sweet so I have no doubt that it was rebuilt as it shows new gaskets etc, holds great oil pressure, it's not smokey, has no knocks or ticks, and doesnt burn oil (this motor has an external oil pump and cooler). In fact it sounds like it has a bit of a cam as it has an aggresive idle but I've just had the CD150 Stromberg carbs fully rebuilt including new air filters so the lumpy idle may be in part to the carbs needing now tuned to the motor. It has SPAX shocks on the front with slotted (drilled) brake rotors which are new. It has headers, 6 into 2, into 1 and dual electric fans (pusher and puller so it runs cool) as well as an extra radiator cooling condenser mounted underneath. The interior is in really good condition. The seats are high back GT6 ones. The carpets are in great shape as are the door panels. The soft top is in pretty good condition, the frame is good but the back plastic window is a little yellowed from the sun and could do with being replaced. It has a Roll Bar which is currently out of the car but fits under the convertible top nicely. The dash is pretty good but not pristine. I have a spare used one that could be dressed up if need be. It needs sun visors which are also a bit wrinkled from the sun damage which is really the worst part of the interior (I think $30 from Victoria British). Basically it just needs some cosmetic cleaning to be mint. The front fender (hood) has a paint blemish on the left hand sine but pretty minor - ref pic. and I have the paint code if needed but its pretty clean apart from that. The windshield has 2 small chips that could possible be repaired (I dont know for sure) but they are about the size of a dime. It has new minilite style wheels with almost new tires. All in all its a really good little car and a great car for someone who wants a sporty little car they can tinker with (it is English after all). It needs some minor TLC as suggested but it's a great car with a s..t load of work that already been done. Be a great little weekend toy or a decent foundation for a club car. I have some spares, including a tonneau cover, extra carbs (twin SU's), and various other items that I can let go with the car too. Reason for selling - I have a new gift I was presented with 8 months ago but this one has 2 little arms and 2 little legs so unfortunately this one I'm selling with only 2 seats has to make way as the other one's a keeper and this one isnt so my wife tells me. Email me with any questions and I'll try to answer as best I can.On Nov-28-11 at 17:29:37 PST, seller added the following information: After some questions from viewers, Id like to add that the car has NOT got the rotoflex diff. There is a hard top that I will give with the car also. The car runs, idles, accelerates, responsively. It hasn't got a rough idle, but a lumpy idle. I dont believe it has the GT6 shock towers on the front. Please if you ask me a question on the car tell me what I am looking for to accurately answer your question as I am not a Triumph fanatic and don't know too much really about these cars, what they are supposed to have and whats different. If I need to take a picture for you I will gladly do so. Thanks for looking.
