Vehicle Detail
Awesome car with almost 138k miles. It's my daily driver at the moment and I make trips to Denver often. It has the Duratec V-6, which was replaced at approximately 132k miles with a 72k mile engine. It had a warranty for 90 days, but haven't any problems with it. It runs smooth, quiet and strong with no oil consumption or smoke. At the same time as the engine being replaced, I had the front and rear crank seals replaced. All 4 engine / transmission mounts were replaced. The water pump, thermostat, radiator and coolant were also replaced with a 70/30 mix of long-life coolant for winter. The spark plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter were replaced as well. I've invested all this, well over $2500, including professional labor. I know I can't make my money back; my loss is your gain. The overdrive (4-speed) automatic transmission shifts great and had the filter and fluid changed with the proper Ford ATF. The power steering and brake system were flushed last oil change (about 1000 miles ago). The Cougar has power everything, original cold a/c (system has never been opened) and hot heater and everything else works great. I've been averaging about 24-26 mpg, the dash information display doesn't lie, either (pictured). I just had the alignment done but haven't purchased a new tire. It was eating up the left, rear faster than the others, hence the alignment. I also have an extra set of the original aluminum wheels, which at some point before me, were painted white. These will be included in the sale. I had snow tires on them last season, but now are just the wheels. Ready for some new snow tires if you'd like (on the car in one of the pictures). The factory stereo was removed for a new Pioneer CD/MP3/iPod unit. I replaced the high beam and low beam headlights bulbs on a recent trip to Denver. It had the original Ford marks on the bulbs! One of the low beams went out and the others were dim. HID's would be nice, but I'm not that into this car anymore. Finally, the bad: The body has seen better days. The car is a factory white, but I believe it was repainted at some point before I owned it. Then the custom graphics were added (before I owned it). I had plans to get new bumpers and get it completely repainted but I've lost interest in this car, as I mentioned before. The roof has a dent in it. It's not bad enough to protrude into the interior, but is obvious (pictured). The bumpers, as I mentioned, need work; at best, replaced (pictured). The worst in my eyes would be the driver side door and rear quarter panel behind the door (pictured). The damage is hard to see until you get close. Not major, but is probably the worst. And last, the passenger side door has a small ding in it. That about wraps it up for the exterior. The interior is actually in really good condition. The only things wrong are the carpet has ripped by the kick panels on both sides (pictured). Apparently, it was a design flaw of the carpet fitting too tight in those corners? A Ford Service Writer told the previous owner that. No seat wear or tears. No steering wheel wear or dash cracks. Oh, the rear struts (or lift supports) will not hold up the hatch. I replaced them with new ones and they still wouldn't hold it up. The parts guy told me it was probably the big spoiler that is too heavy. I decided to put it off until I could put a factory spoiler on it when I had it repainted, but that's not happening now. Last, the window tint was starting to peel on the drivers' window. I trimmed the piece that was peeling, and it's been good since. You may wish to remove the tint or replace it. It came with the car when I got it and it hasn't bothered me much. The tint may be what has kept the interior in such good condition. If you are looking for an efficient commuter, first car or a flashy car that is fun to drive, this is it. Teens love this car. This Cougar is for sale locally as well, so I may end the auction early if there are no bids and I get a local offer. I am also entertaining a trade for a '96-'00 Honda Civic HATCHBACK ONLY, running or not. Contact me to discuss this further. I am willing to travel some to deliver if necessary. Depending on my work schedule, I may be limited to a 500 mile trip from zip code 81401. I will require a paid (and cleared) $2000 deposit within 72 hours of auction closing via PayPal or other previous arrangement, before I deliver. Otherwise, a $500 deposit within 72 hours of auction closing via PayPal.and remaining balance paid in cash at time of pickup. I will accept money order / cashiers check as well for remaining balance. No personal checks! You may also check in to the eBay AUTO FINANCING. Thank you and happy bidding!
