Vehicle Detail
The Blue Book on this car is $4,500! Let's get completely honest, because nobody selling their cars ever is. I bought this 2000 Chevy Impala LS in Michigan 6 months ago for a road trip. Drove 5,000 miles (through the Smoky Mountains to Asheville, NC then to Nashville, TN then to New Orleans, LA and now Austin) without issue. I've been in Austin for a month now and since I live downtown I don't drive anywhere. - I replaced the tires. 4 brand new tires all around! (This cost over $400.)- Replaced windshield wipers. (Got good ones; $30)- Bought new jack. ($20; it's still brand new & unused) - I fixed the A/C. Runs cold! (This cost almost $200.) - I did regular oil changes. (2 oil changes in the time I've owned it) ($30 per oil change; $60 total) So I've spent a bit of money on this car. So why am I selling it for $3,500? 1) I'm wasting money on insurance for a car I don't drive. I'd rather sell it quickly for a bit cheaper than wait and keep paying insurance. 2) It needs a few repairs. You can't expect a perfect car that's 11 years old. That said, I don't feel like you should have to buy a car at actual blue book value and then spend more to fix it. So I'm giving you a discount knowing you'll have to fix a few things (listed below). Repairs needed: - License plate light needs to be replaced. (~$10 if you do it yourself.) - Right front turning signal light sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. The other (both rear, and left front) turning signals work. - The fan at low speeds makes a noise. (It works, it's just noisy.) Need to keep it at 4 or 5 for best and coldest (or hottest since we're coming up on winter) results. - It sometimes (not always) runs a bit hot, but I didn't have any breakdowns at all on my 5,000 mile roadtrip. I had a mechanic in Austin take a look and he said I need to flush the coolant system. I didn't want to spend $80 to do that since I knew I'd be selling it. So basically, for a few hundred dollars in repairs and because I want to get rid of it ASAP I'm listing for $1,000 below blue book value. My phone number is in this video I took of the car: http://youtu.be/N663tc_OQuY I'm in the 78701 area of Austin and you can take a look at the car almost any time.On Nov-13-11 at 13:02:39 PST, seller added the following information:Update: the moon roof motor doesn't work, but I didn't include a moon roof when I did the Blue Book valuation. The $4500 Blue Book is for this car in Fair condition. A few more photos of the interior:
