Vehicle Detail
1982 Triumph Bonneville T140ES Electro T140 ES 750cc Electric Start time capsule (FYI, Bike was listed last week, now being re-listed as it was de-listed by Ebay due to a Fraudulent Buyer who was no longer registered with Ebay) The last of its kind built by the cooperative at Meriden. I am selling this bike for a friend of mine, if you explore my web site or store you will see I am a vintage Japanese bike guy. I am not a British bike guy, nor expert. Truly I know very little about these bikes. This particular bike has not been on the road since 1996. For sitting so long it is in very good shape, but it is not close to perfect. It will need some elbow grease to bring it up to spec, but it is truly a nice original (at least from what I can tell) survivor. Broken tail light lens, broken blinker on rear, will need gas drained, carbs cleaned and reviewed. Things I know about this bike: Engine is free and turns over easily with good compression. The tires are 5 years old, but with near zero miles on them, with the nubs till on. Non-factory low bars. Aftermarket petcocks, one bar end mirror. I think the pipes and mufflers are stock, the bike has many newer factory parts here and there that have been replaces over the years. Has keys, nice seat, tank has an egg sized dent in front left, a couple smaller ones, but overall OK. I think the rims are not original as I believe the original rims were chrome. I see a receipt in the paperwork file from Buchanan Spoke and Rim here in So Cal. So I think these are nice aftermarket aluminum rims. Has Marzocchi shocks, not sure if that was a stock item either. Supposedly there was, is an issue with a diode, not sure what or where, we don't have those on Japanese bikes, or they are called something else. Ran well when it came off the road, I think due to the mystery diode issue it was mothballed. Electric start bike, starter motor is there, but has been disconnected, do not know why, I think the chain was taken out. The bike is generally very clean, engine looks real nice and not showing any signs of leaks. It will need to be gone through, electrics checks, gas drained, carbs cleaned, will need new battery. I guess that is always a good thing on these British beauties. In these pictures all we have done is wipe the dust off it and it still looks pretty darn good. Good seat, super clean under the seat. Has been stored inside in a garage for years, most of the rubber is soft and good, some pitting on the mufflers. Minimal pitting for its age in general. Logo bit on top of tank is cracked and weather from age. Overall a pretty sweet little find. Sold as is. We have the registration in my friend's name. He cannot find the title, we will execute and provide a notarized CA CMV Request for Duplicate Title which provides for title transfer to a new owner. We are working gettting a dup title now, might not have it when in sells, but either way, pretty easy to get. Very straight forward. I will endeavor to answer any questions, provide better photos, etc. The bike can be picked up or delivered in the So. Cal region. Example delivery to Monterey or San Diego would cost $ 250.
