1981 Honda xl500s

This 1981 Honda xl 500s enduro was a barn find for me a few years ago. When I found it, it had not been run in years. It needed some starting fluid the first time but it started after probably 5 kicks. Both tires were completely dry rotted and undriveable and the seat had some tears in it, other than that it seemed like it was in pretty good shape. I bought brand new Bridgestone tires for the front and back and trying to save money just put some black duct tape over the cracks in the seat. The bike became my fuel efficient easy to get around commuter for 1 summer. I loved it, you felt so free knowing that on road or off road it didnt matter, you could go there. And you can park anywhere!!! :-) The bike drives fantastic, lots of power even for highway speeds. I averaged between 50 and 60 mpg that summer in fuel. The odometer doesnt work. I am not sure how many actual miles are on the bike. It never mattered for me because I just wanted a dependable fun rider and thats what I got. Plus if you know honda engines, you know this bike will last forever. I didnt do many trails with it but the few that I did ride it was incredible, I kept up with all my buddies ATV's except I could make it through skinny areas where they couldnt. But I mainly just kept it on the roads.Everything works however the headlight is dim, and the horn isnt that loud (Im thinking it may be a ground issue.) I do have a clear title in hand for this bike so you wont have any problem licensing it for the roads. Thats another great thing about the bike, title fees and insurance are next to nothing because of the year if you want to register it for the road.OVERALL IF YOUR LOOKING FOR AN INEXPENSIVE FUN MOTORCYCLE WHERE YOU CAN RUN ROADS AND TRAILS, THIS IS YOUR BIKE.
