Vehicle Detail
Manx style dune buggy This is a very nice and original old school dune buggy. Every classic car has its story, and I will do my best to tell this buggy’s story: · It is registered as a 1960 VW Beetle. · Bruce Meyers (of Meyers Manx) told me that this was one of the very first copies of his Manx body. · The fiberglass is very thick, has never been cut, and never been painted. It still shows the original blue metallic gel coat. · This buggy was built many many years ago by the owner of Bugpack for his father. It was stored for many years and then sold to a friend of mine who owned it for over 20 years, maintaining the original look. · This buggy has never been off road and has always been garage kept. · The wheels are polished Center Lines with Goodyear Eagle tires on all four corners. · The gauges are vintage Porsche 911 gauges (from the 1960s). · Brand new Beard Super Seats – black tweed – Crow 3x2 Y shape restraints with extra length on shoulder adjustment – cost over $800 + installation. · There are two old school Sony speakers in the dash, but there is no radio installed. As far as the mechanical details: · The front brakes are top of the line disk brakes made by CNC. · The engine is a 2275 professionally built by Strictly VW in Irwindale, CA. · It has a brand new case that was clearanced, machined for full flow, and machined for a sand seal by Rimco. · It has an 82mm DEMELLO crank · 044 Go Heads · 120 Engle cam, · Single high rev springs, · Swivel feet adjusters, · Aluminum push rods, · Bosch 009 distributor with electronic ignition, · Bosch blue coil, · Bosch alternator, · Dual 40mm Dellorto carburetors with CB performance linkage, · 96 plate external oil cooler with electric fan which is thermostat activated, · External Ford oil filter, · Steel braided lines with an fittings, · Gene Berg pressure relief oil pump, · Cramic coated Tri Mill exhaust, · and much more. · The transmission is a swing axle that was also built by Strictly VW. · It has higher 3rd and 4th gears for highway cruising and low to mid range 1st and 2nd gears for offroad if needed. · It has an Australian made super diff and a brass bushing was pressed in where the shift rod goes through so it will never wear out. I have Receipts for all of this work and parts. There is over $15,000 invested in this buggy! This buggy has a lot of torque and great throttle response. You can cruise on the freeway at 70 mph doing about 3200 rpm. The engine and transmission have less than 2000 miles since new. It is VERY fast and handles like a go cart. This car is lot's of fun and gets all kinds of attention every time it's out. The man standing in the last picture by the buggy is Bruce Meyers (Meyers Manx) at the Bug In 2 years ago. I would consider selling the car minus the engine for $5500.00. The engine's cost to build was over $6,000.00, and tranny’s cost was $2,000.
