Vehicle Detail
"LIKE A ROCK' should have been Studebaker's sales motto for their truck line! I offer up one fine Studebaker half ton truck for your consideration. I will decribe everything I know about this very sharp vehicle. Five years ago I purchased this trick from a gentleman in California. He is a well known automobile author who told me he bought this truck from an old Studebaker mechanic with only two thousand miles since a total restoration. I bought it sight unseen except for pictures and had it shipped to me. I was not disappointed and I believe his story but have no documentation to it back up except condition of the vehicle. This is one great little truck that I have put about 4,500 miles since I bought it. Studebaker 259 V8 engine is tight, uses no oil and no drips. Four speed ( three speed with granny gear) shifts well and truck goes down the road as it should. Rear end ratio of 4:09 (factory ) makes her more suited for country/city driving. Everything works, radio, lights, heater, horn, wipers and blower. Tires are like new. Things I have added are: air conditioning, altenator to handle A/C, Tach, voltometer, trailer hitch and all work well. I also added a camper shell to take my wife fishng and camping in the mountains. This goes with truck if buyer wants it. Condition of truck as it is today. Looks as good in person as pictures show. Paint, mist green, ( a Studebaker color for 1963) is very nice with a few scatches here and there. Interior is very nice with perfect headliner, nice seats, seat belts and door panels. All glass is good and works like new and doors close like on the showroom floor. Under body is clean and solid. I have always kept her in a garage. Now here is what she needs to be PERFECT: Steering has always been a little stiff with a catch in it like a flat ball bearing. I have driven this way since I've had it and it drives fine on the road but should be checked into at some point. Wants to stall out in hot weather. Starts right up after cooling down a bit. Could be vapor lock or an ignition problem but this should be fairly easy to solve but is getting worse. Sliding window has one catch missing. You can drive this truck to any show and get rave reviews as she is. Email me for any other info you need. I am down sizing and will not have a place to keep her any more. I hate to see her go but it's time for someone else to have stewardship of this excellent vehicle. You are welcome to check her in person. I have set a very low reserve as I am moving and can't take her with me. Best of luck bidding. On Oct-18-11 at 13:17:39 PDT, seller added the following information: I spot on the roof is a leaf. Brakes are good and I forgot to mention that the truck comes with a full set of manuals (books and CD) sales brochure and misc parts.
