Vehicle Detail
You are looking at/bidding on a 1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible. This vehicle has been in my family since 1986. I am the third owner. This is a solid, good-running car. The floors are all solid, no rust or rot, chassis is in great shape. The car was re-painted once in its lifetime. The mileage is as you see it, original. The speedometer has not turned. I have replaced the rear shocks with new Monroe air units and a new air line kit. This was converted to a manual air fill several years ago. The car will still sense when air is needed and the factory pump will operate, however, the pump does not hold the air, hence why it was converted years ago. Pumps, I am told, are still available and/or re-buildable. The AC and ventilation system works well, AC blows very cold. There is power to the radio, however, radio itself will not turn on, it needs to be removed and repaired. There is power to the cruise unit, however that also does not work. All windows, seats, power top, trunk mechanism work fine. The vehicle is registered, inspected, insured and driven for pleasure on nice weekends. Otherwise, she sits parked in my garage year round. Tires are in awesome shape, deep tread, no cracks. Brakes are in great shape, suspension rides very well. This is still a tight solid automobile. GM, before sending these vehicles to McLaren for convertible fitment, made the chassis on the Eldorado the most solid ones built, considered overkill , but the reason why the car rides so smoothly and solidly. It is a heavy vehicle that is 50/50 balanced because of the chassis construction. This is one of approximately 2500 built in 1985, the last year for the convertible in this body style. It is now a sought-after collector car. It gets looks of admiration and I get asked about the car whenever I take it out for a spin or to cruise nights. The parade boot and carry bag are in the trunk, perfect shape. The leather seats are original, no tears, in good shape. Driver’s seat shows more signs of wear, but average for its age. A Delco-Remy power antenna, still boxed and new, is also located in the trunk. The vehicle has a new Bosch battery, thermostat and antifreeze, radiator cap, and new alternator belt. The cooling system works without any issue. The transmission shifts smoothly, and also is problem-free. There are two areas of rust in the car, one is bottom inside edge of the doors and sill, minor (this was a common GM issue). The second area is some minor paint flaking and surface rust on top of trunk lid (12 inch area). Otherwise, there is no rust or rot, body panels are all in great shape, no filler. NADA classic car guidelines place this vehicle at $10-11K value. This vehicle is priced to sell well below that figure. This vehicle is perfect for someone that would like to drive it right away, and/or slowly chip away at the vehicle over the winter to bring it back to perfection if you so wish, or just continue driving it, as it is a nice looking vehicle as it stands now. If you want additional specific photos taken, contact me please. I check the website twice daily, so your questions will be answered promptly. The exhaust system, Y-pipe, and catalytic converter have been replaced within the last 3 years. The system is Walker aluminized, still looks new, and has a very nice exhaust note. The plastic fascia between the body and bumpers needs work. The rear fascia piece abutting the license plate/fuel fill is missing. The corner pieces have cracks. The front fascia is in better shape, however, the sides of the corner pieces (abutting corners of front bumper) have cracks. Unfortunately, they have dried out and lost their elasticity due to age. If I was keeping the car, this would be first on my list for replacement. Twilight sentinel auto lamp works perfectly. The rust under doors is the inner lip/edge. The rust on the sills is not extensive, near bottom of "A" pillar, surface rust. Driver's side near where "B" pillar would be, again, minor. The ASC McLaren sticker is still on the driver's door, but only partially readable. As stated before, the chassis, floors, and rear chassis and gas tank and trunk pan (where you would expect to see rot) are solid no rust/rot.
