Vehicle Detail

Original black plate, California Nash Rambler Wagon. Was stored in a barn in Northern California for many years. Shows 27,000 miles on working odometer, although it may have turned over. The vehicle is modified with early Nash Rambler fenders, and stainless steel as well as grill to duplicate the early '50's art deco Nash Rambler wagon. The history of this modern era of Rambler dates to 1950 when they were offered as a compact car, and were one of the first successful compacts. In 1954 a merger between Nash-Kelvinator and Hudson created the American Motors Corp. (AMC) Car Company. Prior to the 1958 model years cars, AMC discontinued the Nash and Hudson brands. Although still known by many as the Nash Rambler these cars were actually a resurrected version of the early '50's Nash cars but now sold as Rambler Americans. So although a new car, in essence they were an old car under a new identity. This particular car has been modified to represent the earlier version by putting the 1953 era closed front fenders and grille on it they gave the original car such identifiable and unusual style that today is just as neat as you can get. These body panels are easily interchangeable because little was changed except the style. This car being the "Super" has the bright chrome trim around the windshield and rear tailgate window plus the chrome belt line molding. Power comes from a 6-cylinder flat head (L) engine that is 195.6 cubic inches and develops 90 horsepower with a 3 speed gearbox. The car oozes with charm and character everywhere you look from the fact it is a two-door wagon to the hood ornament on to the in dash radio and tailgate hinges, it is all unusual and stylist. This example drives amazingly well and has had extensive restoration. Finished in two tone green, with a matching interior. The car was carefully and extensively prepared for a high quality paint job in two original Nash colors, over $6,000. The car was painted inside and out in the engine compartment, door jams and all surfaces. One color is Nile green, and the other is Sea Foam green. The interior was custom upholstered, in 3 different fabrics for the effect of lightness and comfort. Even the horn button matches the interior. Bumpers and most trim has been re-chromed, stainless steel has been straightened and polished. Car is equipped with super rare Nash "Cello" wire hubcaps from the Nash sportscar. The tires are brand new radials, with period - width whitewall inserts. The brakes have been done, and master cylinder replaced. There is a new exhaust system as well. Mechanically, the engine starts and runs well, although it has not been rebuilt. The clutch and transmission work smoothly as well. All lights, gauges, signals work well. The radio works intermittently and probably needs some tubes. The heater is currently disconnected, but the controls all work. The wipers work, slowly since there are vacuum operated. The windshield is clear and original, with a new rubber gasket and some minor wiper marks. The rest of the glass is good and operates well. The body has never been hit and is rust free, except for a minor hole that was repaired under the drivers seat. Remember this car is over 50 years old, and not a trailer queen. There are imperfections in the paint and upholstery, particularly the headliner at the rear of the body is in need of some repair. There is no warranty implied or expressed as to the mechanical or physical condition of the car and all descriptions herein are general descriptions and we suggest "although we love the car" that you seek your own inspection of the vehicle.
