Vehicle Detail
You are viewing a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 Door Sedan in a no reserve auction format. I am starting the auction out at what I believe is a fair price for the condition of the car. I have more money into it than what I am starting it out at. I am willing to take a slight loss on it in order to move it out. I simply have too many projects and not enough money to finish them. Keep in mind that the mileage listed is what is on the odometer. It has probably rolled over before, but I just do not have anyway of knowing. This was my dream car to go beside my 1955 Bel Air, but I need to put more into it to get it to show quality and I'm really close. I'm also trying to finish out a 1970 Chevy C10 for what will be a future truck for my son. This car is not show quality and I will try to describe it to the best of my ability. I'm not an expert on Tri 5's, but I'll try to cover everything I can think of at the moment. Just bear in mind this is a driver and not show car. The only thing from you not being able to get the inspection sticker at the moment would be the lights. There is something going on with the wiring because they work one day and then after a drive down the back roads here they stop working. This should be a relative easy fix, but I just don't have the time. Color is now Blue and White exterior/interior. Original Paint Code is 819-D which would have been India Ivory/Matador Red. Trim code is 669-1C which would be Black/Red. The engine is a non original 283 that was rebuilt prior to my ownership. I'm not certain of the mileage on the motor and transmission. The transmission is a Muncie 4 Speed with a Hurst Shifter. The car runs strong, but if you are planning on driving it daily I would recommend a tune up. A walk around the exterior and you will see that it has a good driver quality paint job. It is not show quality, but this car will turn heads when it is going down the road. The body is straight. The chrome is overall in driver quality condition. Some of the chrome is better than the other. It is fine to drive as is, and I wouldn't worry about it until you decided to get a show quality paint job. The rear chrome is is great shape. The front bumper has some pitting, but is noticeable from 6 feet away. The 2 hood rockets are probably the worst chrome on the car. Underneath the car is fairly clean as you can see in the photos. There are some dirt spots that I noticed when I took the photos. This would have been from a few days ago when I left one of the paved back roads and turned around at a gravel road. It does have the seamed frame. The suspension needs nothing if you are using it for a daily driver or weekend cruiser. The interior is great as is. Other than some of trim pieces, you won't have to do anything inside for years. It is really clean with new seat covers and door panels. The carpet is is great shape as well. It does have bucket seats added in the front which is better to me than the bench seat. These look like early '60's Impala/Corvair seats to me. The speedo isn't working, but I will include a brand new cable. You could just use a GPS like I did until you replace the cable. The brakes are drum on all 4 wheels. The rims are 15 inch Cragar chrome and the tires have plenty of tread left. You'll have thousands of miles to go on the tires. The glass is good all around. In one of the pics you will see a small chip on the windshield that has been there every since I have owned it and has never spread. The vent windows could probably use new seals as the rubber has some dry rot. They would be fine as is for now. The rear quarter windows could use some work. It probably wouldn't hurt to go in and check the tracks, guides, and stops if you plan on rolling them down. They can be rolled up and down but you have to use both hands to guide them back up. I just leave them up and they are fine left up. I will be throwing in the new spedo cable as stated above. I also have a few new trim pieces from Danchuk that I will throw in. Probably about 100 bucks or more worth of show quality pieces. Also, I have a California Car Company cover that I will throw in. This is the heaviest duty one from Danchuk that is around 275 bucks new. The title and bill of sale from when I bought the car will be mailed to the buyer. I will work with the buyer anyway I can in order to get the car shipped. The buyer will need to contact the shipping companies out there and they can contact me for pickup info. Buyer will be responsible for all shipping costs associated with the car. Again, I will be more than helpful and work with the buyer on getting the car picked up and delivered as quickly as possible. I will need a deposit of $500 within 48 hours of auction close via Paypal. The remainder will have to be sent in the form of a cashier's check form a U.S. bank. This will have to clear prior to the car being picked up. The car is located in Central Louisiana for any prospective local buyers. I am not interested in any trades. I need the money from the sale of the car. Winning must make contact and make the deposit within 48 hours of auction close. This is available for U.S. buyers only. Please ensure that you have the funds prior to bidding. Some banks may not finance the vehicle due to the age. Check with J.J. Best or others that specialize in vintage cars. Again, I will do my best to work with prospective bidders. Just remember that I am an individual and not a dealer.
