Vehicle Detail
Here we have a 1949 CHEVY PANEL TRUCK, barn find. The truck was last registered in 1976, and shows 94,773 miles which I believe is the correct mileage. I have the title from 1961, its in the deceased previous owners name, I can arrange to get it transferred from the previous party. The P.O. family member has the documents to do the title transfer, and would prefer to use the READING AAA service to do the notary work, so the title work will be simple. Some states may just need a name signed on the back to transfer the title. AS far as I know its all original and complete, except for some hubcaps and the radio knobs. Although I dont know about the jack. The vehicle has a 6 cylinder engine with manual transmission. The engine currently doesnt turn, the engine oil is black, I dont think the block is cracked or has water in it, so its very possible it could be rebuilt to keep it original if so desired. The emblems say 3100, I think its a three quarter ton chassis or more. The truck has 6 lug wheels, 16" x6.oo tires on it. It will have tires that hold air and, I will try to free up the rear brakes, the fronts turn and steer good, but the rears were partly skidding when moving it. The vehicle in my opinion is restorable, but it has issues to expect when this old. It was stored in a shed, and the shed was falling down. The roof has some damage from that, mostly in the front center. The FOLSOM sunvisor got bent up,can be straightened out. Also, right behind the visor the roof has a kink in it, and three spots along the drivers side roofline where the rafters sat on the roof. The worst damage is right in the front. The rear cargo floor is made of wood, and is very nice, except for about 8" of one board, where the rear doors close. The frame and chassis look OK, nothing looks to be out of normal. Frame has surface rust, no rust through that I can see. The body has serious rust at the rear fender seams, at the front fender seams at the cab, and the cowl area. There is also rust at the lower body sides and running board areas. The front doors seem to be sound, no rust thru that I could see. The hood looks good, the front fenders have rust at the rear bottom area. The drivers side rear door has several dents and both rear doors have rust thru in the bottom sections. The steel floor at the front two seats has rust. The passenger side rear fender is banged up. The glass all looks excellent, with the exception of the front windshields have light scratches from the wiper blades, etc. Scratches may be able to polish out. No window clouding that I can see, in any of the windows. I tried to describe the vehicles as best I could, contact the seller if you wish to inspect the vehicle in person. Vehicle is about midway between Harrisburg,Pa. and Allentown Pa. near Rt. 78. Vehicle is for sale As-is where-is, delivery for a fee may be possible, depending on distance, contact seller. Vehicle needs to be paid within 72 hours, and absolutely before vehicle leaves the property. Thanks for the interest, and I hope someone can save this vehicle and bring her back to life. e we
