Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a beautiful well preserved 1968 Mustang Coupe with the 200 inline six engine and 3 speed manual transmission. The color is Brittany Blue. It was repainted at a Ford certified body shop 20 years ago, per the previous owner and still has a great shine to it. The pictures show the vehicles great stance and look and the car shows just as nice if not better in person. It can be driven to a car cruise or car show as is with a spray wax wipe down and vacuum of the interior. Vehicle has always been kept in dry inside storage and includes a used and worn cloth car cover. The mileage is most likely 129k not 29k, but anything is possible. The mustang is in outstanding condition. There is no cancerous rust anywhere on the mustang that I have found. I believe the body panels and floors to be original. I have attached 30 some odd photos of the undercarriage and suspension to show this. The only thing I would add would be an undercoating but amazingly the exposed metal has only accumulated minor surface rust of the years. The doors open and close well, the windows and glass all appear to be original. The radio works. The gauges work but the illumination is slightly shadowed and may need some bulbs replaced. The tires are like new. The brakes are great but the mustang does pull slightly. Probably from sitting. Cooling system and radiator all work well. Wipers work. Exhaust is great but there is a slight leak heard nearby the engine. Valve train does make minor noise from sitting over a year now but when driven regularly that goes away. Gas tank was replaced. Compression is great and the engine fires right up. Engine bay is clean and rust free and all the original parts are in place on the engine. Interior is clean and nice. Seats were recovered several years back. Spare tire is in place in the trunk area. There are only several areas the mustang could use some attention: the right rear quarter window is off track and needs to be aligned to roll up and down via window crank. The steering wheel is aftermarket and a replica but in my eyes it could look nicer so I would find a better replacement or nice original. Like I mentioned earlier in the ad the undercarriage could use some undercoating and the gauges illumination is a little dull. The car pulls slightly when braking. There's a slight clutch chatter but a skilled manual transmission driver can learn to avoid that. Also the shifter linkage is 45 years old and a little loose but still works fine. These issues do NOT effect the driving conditions of the mustang. The car can start right up and drive anywhere in the country and cruise at 75-80mph down the freeway. I'm hoping someone will buy it and keep it original as it's a beautiful car as is, but I understand that the v8 conversion is attractive on a clean bodied 60's mustang. If you need more pictures please let me know. If you are not local I have a local friend that does enclosed shipping and I would be happy to help out with coordinating shipment. Here is a video walk around and start up of the mustang done last week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyRVIsh3CnE&feature=mh_lolz&list=HL1317493644 Also here is a photo album of the mustang as well. http://s676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/olsonski/ On Oct-02-11 at 20:55:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention that the drivers seat does not lean forward. Somewhere between the linkage and the chrome handle on the side of the seat it's disconnected so the seat does not lean forward on the drivers side.
