Up for Auction is a 1963 R2 Avanti project car, Serial number 63R2967A. This car is a barn find from many years of storage. The original R2 engine was replaced with a 259 CI Studebaker with a racing cam. All the R2 components were transferred over to this engine including carburetor and supercharger brackets. The car is mostly complete with the exception of the following listed pieces. The Supercharger and some of the hoses are missing. The left front electric window motor is missing. The headliner and carpeting are missing. Both rear backup lens and housings are missing. I have not attempted to start car as the engine wiring, spark plug wires and wiring harness are bad and will need to be replaced. The vehicle has a power shift automatic transmission which was in good shape when car was placed in storage. The front and rear bumpers as well as the rear vertical bumperettes need plating. One of the original glass headlamp covers has a stone chip in it, and one of the chrome retainers for the glass is split. The left front door hinge will need to be replaced. The frame is badly rusted around rear axle openings and will need to be replaced. The brake lines are rusted thru, and the rear brakes are locked up. The front disc brakes are also bad. All tires are good and are not weather checked. The body is in great shape and only has one stress crack behind left rear quarter window. All body panels are in in excellent shape and all the pieces have better than normal gap fits around hood, doors, and trunk openings. The interior components are in fairly rough shape with the exception of the dash. The dash is in good shape and has no cracks, but will need to be dyed. The trunk carpet is also bad, the spare tire lid is good. Some of the mechanical pieces will need to be replaced. Small pieces are missing such as lighter, left door lock, ignition switch, antenna base, etc. This car is an excellent candidate for someone who needs a replacement Avanti body. The entire fiberglass body including floor panels are in excellent shape and will need minimum work for restoration. The only damage to the car during its life was a small hole in the trunk lid from backing into a pole, and that was repaired to be like new. There is no title for the car, a bill of Sale will be provided. This is a good car for future restoration. Please email me with any further questions on the car.
