Vehicle Detail

A classic 1972 Chevy short bed step side. Not much original on the truck. Features a newly built big block 454 hooked up to a rebuilt Turbo 700R with a shift kit. Fed by a Holley 770 cfm double pumper mounted on a Wieand Stealth high rise intake. A B&M shifter makes passing the gears a pleasure. A total list of mechanicals is listed below. The interior came from a 1985 Chevy Blazer with excellent condition fabric buckets. The overhead console is mounted on a vinyl padded headliner and holds the spring loaded engine start switch and courtesy lights. New carpet is underlaid by insulation throughout the cab. The instrument cluster is all Stewart Warner and includes an electronically calibrated speedo and the normal array of instruments, plus an engine and transmission oil temperature gauge. Classic Air "Perfect Fit" air conditioner uses original dash controls to integrate into dash. New Eaton 3.73 ratio posi-traction rear end with custom balanced drive shaft. New gas shocks in rear and hydraulic shocks in front. Equipped with Prodigy 2, electric trailer brake controller with new wiring and seven pin plug at bumper. Custom exhaust system with Flow Master exhaust and 12" glass packs at rear to create a throaty rumble, but not over-bearing. The truck bed is a full 48" wide with no internal wheel wells to accommodate a 4X8 sheet of ply with the rear gate dropped. Custom LED built-in, recessed tail lights. The 22 gallon plastic fuel tank is mounted under the rear truck bed (originally behind seat!). See detailed equipment and vehicle description below. Why am I selling? I built the truck because I love the body style. I bought it in November 2004 with a "tired" six cylinder engine and stock floor shift with a "granny" gear. I came upon a 454 and have done the listed work to a point of almost being finished. I have other cars that I thought I could use this truck to pull a 5,000 GVW trailer to move cars from CA to my retirement home in OR. The truck is just too light for the big trailer I bought, so I recently bought a big Ford, dually, 460 longbed that pulls the trailer with ease. Momma says too many trucks makes her grumpy, so my project truck has to go. I am retired, so this vehicle has not been abused or raced. It has less than 2,000 miles on the rebuilt engine. The pictures will show the positive aspects of the truck, but also show some scratches, dings and a primer air vent panel below the windshield. I removed the panel to install a screen beneath the air vent slats to keep leaves from getting into the air ducting. Bottom line, the paint is in good shape, but the truck will need paint to bring it to its full potential. It's a great truck that always gets honks and high fives wherever I drive it. Happy to respond to any questions. Good luck!
