Vehicle Detail
up for sale is an interesting bike,a 2004 suzuki dl650 v strom. i am selling the bike for a chrysler jeep dealership that i work at.the dealership does not have an ebay account, and i collect and own more motorcycles than i have brains so i was elected to sell it. we traded it in on a new jeep and after i rode it i said i would sell it under my ebay account. so for the record: it belongs to a car dealership but i am personally not a dealer . so since we ARE NOT motorcycle dealers,i am selling it with NO RESERVE. when we trade in a bike it seems if we call a bike shop they a;lways want to buy it for half its true value so since i am very familiar with bikes i usually tell the employees at one of the 6 new car franchises we have to call me. i give them a figure we can sell it for on ebay andwe usually make the deal. we are not looking to make any profit on the bikes we trade in we just want to make the new car deal and then have me dispose of it,since we do not deal in motorcycles.so... the buyer usually get a deal when we trade in a bike. that said here is what i know about the bike after personally riding it about 5 miles.--the bike is interesting to say the least i would describe the bike as an advernturer/tourer it reminds me of the BMW model that is built for off/on road use the onkly bad thing about them is the initial cost..,this one is cheap!! i am starting the bidding out for only $2500 with NO RESERVE!! i personally could not find a thing wrong with it. it has a good battery, starts right up, no smoke,no noises. the tires are in good shape(note pictures of both front and rear) he instruments all work,(note nuertal light and tachomer showing low, consistant idle,as well as proper coolant temperature after a 5 mile 95 degree florida summer ride). the clutch is great brakes great, and power band is terrific. it is the first time i ever rode one of these and it is "spunky" has the typical torque of a single or v twin.the bike has more power than you would ever need --what i am saying is this is no slouch performance wise. the bike has been climate control stored since new, there is NO corrosion on any of the nuts/bolts,hardware,etc. many bikes when left outside will have rusty washers, phillip screw heads, bolts nuts, ect. it makes a machine look awful and since motorcycles show most all hardware in the open it makes them look real tacky, and the only way of fixing one is total disassembly of the bike and motor for either replating the cadmimum or zinc coating on the bolts/nuts or buying new. this usually involves $1,000-$1500 labor(about 40 hours of work).i know, i own over 350 antique bikes,so i have been there, done that/made that mistake!--this one is great all it needs is a new owner to burn the gas out of it before it goes stale.this alsoi has an very expensive "corbin" seat on it corbins usually cost in th neighborhood of $500+.people buy them for comfort and are very well made seats. every bike my wife has ever owned she has replaced the stock seat with a corbin.i guess the fellow who owned this felt the same way. also included is a really nice size stowage box sitting where a tour pack sits. again everything is in excellant shape, both mechanically as well as cosmetically. i can also arrange inexpensive shipping to about anywhere in the usa. example: from floirda to los angeles $500,other locations are less of course. i am also putting a buy it now price on the listing to help out the guy who does not have the lightening fast computer and might want the bike but does not want to loose out the last 5 seconds of bidding(which seems to be the norm on ebay) i have had this happen to me on numerous ocassions, and i was not too happy when i learned i was not fast enough the last 3 seconds of it going off. the buy it now is set at $2900. this in my opinion is ALOT of bike for a small amount of money.these bikes when taken care f are good for extrememly high mileages so the mileage on it would be comperable to 20,000-30,000 miles on your car.these bikes last ALONG time.with the advent of water cooling, and 4 stroke technology; motorcycles no longer need top ends or bottom ends at premature mileage, like the old antiques i own.my father in law had 80,000 miles on his japanese 600cc bike and it ran perfect hen he sold it. since technically it will be be bought from the chrysler/jeep dealership sales tax /title fees will have to be collected unless out of state where in most cases you will have to pay in your own state there is no additional fees our standard $698 delivery fee is INCLUDED in ebay transactions,so agaon you pay only what you bid plus applicable taxes and state title fees. bid with confidence ,someone is going to get a GOOD bike,GOOD LUCK BIDDING!!!
