Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1965 Mercedes Benz 220s “Heckflosse” Fintail sedan VIN: 11101212159712 Engine 6cyl Standard Automatic Transmission Mileage shown on odometer: 67631 Title is CLEAR For sale is a 1965 Mercedes Benz 220s “Heckflosse” Body tag on radiator support reads 111.012 Chassis 12-159712 Model 220Sb The 4 door “Heckflosse” or “Fin tail” models were produced from 1959 until 1968, these are also called W111 by Mercedes-Benz. These cars have become very popular, with a collector following worldwide. This original luxury 4 door Mercedes Benz sedan car runs but is looking for someone to bring it back to life and get it driving. The car is dark gray with red and black interior. The car does not appear to have been driven much in the past years and could use some help. The engine can run but is hard to start and runs rough. The carburetors will need to be rebuilt. The brakes work great. The car will need to be trailered to the buyers’ location. The ignition switch needs attention as the key must be turned several times to engage. The red and black seats and interior are in good condition, however the car is missing the front floor carpets and the driver side seat material in back needs repair. The headliner is in very good condition. The walnut wood dash is very nice and the gauges look good and are in place. The clock does not work and there has been an aftermarket radio installed which is not working. The lever for the vent for outside air vent is not connected. The steering wheel looks great but has a slight crack on the left side. The weather stripping on the doors are well worn. Manual window operation. The driver side wind wing is tight to open, the rear windows will roll down with some difficulty and the glass overall is in good condition, no cracks but the tint in some places is starting to peel. The exterior overall is in good condition. The body is straight but are two dents on the rear bumper and small dent on passenger fender; it does appear that the driver side fender has been repainted. The car comes with its jack and spare tire in the trunk; we found that the floor in the trunk is rusted through on both sides behind the wheel wells (spare tire well). The chrome and trim is fair overall, some crazing on the bumpers and the chrome is starting to peel off the bottom side of the a small portion on the right side of the rear bumper. The car is currently licensed in Washington State, tabs are current to 9-2012. Car is sold AS IS. Please contact me if you have questions before you bid, but I cannot guarantee a timely reply when messages are sent the last 24 hours of sale (I will try however).
