Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a Special Edition 1974 Sunbug/Super Beetle! This car is in excellent condition and has been in my family since 1974. It was purchased new by my Dad, and I have had it since 1993. Both of us maintained it well over the years. There are only 69,300 ORIGINAL miles on it. The car runs perfectly and has been fully safety inspected and has passed on all levels including brakes and steering. All tires are new. It has a very nice 2 stage paint job in it's original gold color. The paint is a few years old, but still in good shape. The car has it's original sport wheels which were optional for the Sunbug in 74. Chrome trim around the windows is in pretty good condition along with the mirrors, rubber seals, antenna and remainder of chrome trim on the car. There are two spots less than one inch where the rust has made holes, and there in some rust on the chrome headlight rims. Overall the car looks beautiful, a great example of a fine 37 year old classic model that was only made One Year by Volkswagon. Inside, the car's front and rear seat covers have been replaced and there are no rips or tears. Drivers side has had new padding installed. Rear seat is in excellent shape and all seat belts (rear and front) are intact. The dash is original as is the padded Sunbug steering wheel and both are in great shape. Speedometer, gas gauge and original Sapphire AM radio all work. Trunk leaver release works fine. The lining behind the rear seats needs to be replaced.. Sunvisors are original, one has come loose, and the other one is in place. Hairline crack in windshield. The glove box lock was inoperable and had to be removed. Sunroof has not been opened in years, and I am not sure if it is fully operable. Rear view mirror is in good shape and the courtesy light works. Interior air vent motor works as it should and vent control knob system all function properly. The steering is tight and there are no high speed shakes or typical steering box problems. The transmission shifts easily into all gears with no grinding. Overall, the car runs and drives great and is ready to go! I drove it up from the Gulf of Mexico last year. This 74 Sunbug / Super Beetle is a great investment as well! The NADA guide lists this car for $6000.00, and I am willing to let it go to a good home for only $2650. I rarely drive it and would like to see it back on the road. On Sep-06-11 at 13:04:31 PDT, seller added the following information: This is the first time that I have ever listed anything on eBay, and didn't really know how to go about it. I copied the listing that I had on Craigslist without checking it over, and later realized that I had left the price of $2650 in this description. My reserve price is significantly lower than that, and as it stands the current bidder is very close to this very low reserve.
