TKC 3239 block no. FP73055UE mileage 55,137 Everything removed from seating area of vehicle; seating area was wire-wheel cleaned and rattlecan painted. Remove and rebuild hand brake assembly. Reinstall Rebuild and assembly of Right Rear brake area. Hone wheel cylinder and replace seals. Remove the differential cover; check out interior and reinstall. Fill differential with 85-140wt Remove both seats; disassemble, clean, paint and reassemble seat runner assemblies. Rebuild and assembly Left Rear brake assembly. Hone and reassemble wheel cylinder. Put in used axle shaft. Install newer radiator with minor repair in middle; eBay $55. Replace upper and lower radiator hoses $15 New oil filter $6.50 Replace front motor mounts; $44 Clean and paint front end sheet metal behind front bumper. Replace starter; eBay $71 R and R head; torque to 46 ft-lbs; clean; reseat valves; adjust valves at 0.010 New spark plugs $7.50, head gasket $30; valve cover gasket $5; remaining gaskets $15 Pull smog gear off of intake manifold and plug resulting holes with pipe plugs Remove "heater unit" New end for red battery cable; NAPA - 70 cents Magnetic oil filler plug for differential $6.50 Clean up water overflow system, repaint small tank and reinstall units. Hose clamps, oil; Napa $7 Replacement grille; eBay $29 New water pump; new fuses in fuse block; press existing fan clutch onto new water pump $10 Rebuild and paint hood latch assembly Replace both axle drop straps $20; rear rebound stops $19 1 quart 85-140wt oil into transmission; magnetic side plug in there May 15 started and ran motor using Chevy side-draft carb Finished installing parking brake and associated cables; adjusted parking brake Finished installing driveline and exhaust system; Two exhaust system brackets replaced with new @ $4.70 and $2.30 Install different alternator; eBay $20 + $17 shipping $37 Used carb for parts, eBay $20.50 +14.31 ship $34.80 Oct. 2, 2005 mounted passenger door mirror (purchased used off of eBay); also drivers side door mirror. Drivers side door mirror, eBay $18.50; passenger side door mirror, eBay $14.50 Nov. 8 replace drivers door detent strap with a leather strap. Nov. 15 finish disassembly of carb and reassemble; found no problems and everything moves. Nov. 16 runs. Set timing at 10º btdc per vehicle decal, check vacuum advance. Nov. 17 adjust valves at 0.010-.011" Nov. 21, 2005 install air filter box; new air filter eBay $9.50 . . . 25 Aug.. 2010 - pull off left side Lockheed (cast no. 32433310) brake caliper. need two 2-inch dia. pistons. 26 Aug. - replace left (front) steering ball joint. 28 Aug. - Adjusted (front) toe-in at 0 degrees + a smidge; check later. Need to replace upper king pin support bushing on left side after I get this running, titled and insured. 29 Aug. - rebuilt left front brake caliper unit with two, new stainless steel pistons. 2 Sept. - assemble LF brake caliper. 3 Sept. - mount onto Spridget and attach brake line with new copper washers. 5 Sep. - bleed front brakes; put front wheels back on. 7 Sep. - change hose that runs water to carb 8 Sep. - check fluid in differential; fill up radiator; put on fan "shroud." Remove old gasoline, replace with fresh. Air up all tires; put charge on very dead battery. 9 Sep. - primed fuel pump and started. Fuel pump diaphragm leaks; will replace with electronic fuel pump. 10 Sep. - plumb in electronic fuel pump($52) in back, underneath. Nov. 2010 - 12-volt battery . . . . . 3 Mar. 2011 - 40-amp Alternator, rebuilt - Mistubitsi NAPA 13-8061 $60.47 13 Mar. - alternator bracket $10 16 Mar. - spark plug wires $10.99 17 Mar. - new gasket between exhaust manifold and catalytic converter (free) 26 June - got horns to work. fuse box: passenger side, top, underneath connector dirty 27 June - front bumper cleaned up and attached 29 June - turn signals connected and working. yes! 31 June - turn signal lenses on; most bulbs plugged into back of dash. Lights rocker switch has back fall off. 1 July - mount new push pull switch for lights under dash. 2 July - main light for speedometer is GE 1449 (T3, maybe E10 screw base) Side running lights at 1891 (Wagner St. No. BP1891) a new one will work where an existing old one won't. [1893 appear to be the same.] 12 July - get horns working again; flakey connection at fuse box has been marked. Adjust horn tones for max sound. 16 July - an original gas tank connecting hose has been installed as has a new locking gas cap. 17 July - work on automatic choke; try to get Stromberg to run leaner 18 July - running too rich on starting and when warm; after reading two articles ...rotated heat mass (left side of carb) towards the engine; black smoke stops. 19 July - new title, registration and new license plates/tags; $195. Runs ok when cold. Spits back thru carb when warmed up. Timing is ok. Will check firing order today. Gasket where choke mounts onto carb has a small piece missing. Someone has been in there as one of the three screws holding choke on is different. 21 July - replaced gasket between choke and carb body; drives a lot better 23 July - start tear down on right front wheel assembly; front end squat was due to worn out upper and lower bushings, above and below swivel pin (king pin.) 23-27 July - tear right front axle assembly down. 1-2 August - replace all rubber bushings in right front axle assembly and reinstall; done. $92.16 in parts. 3-13 aug, - left front suspension all rebushed, assembled and installed $92.16 13 Aug. - have to replace LF wheel bearings and wheel seal 18 Aug. - got wheel bearings and seal; $49.90 Read Bearing Article four times. 19 Aug. - LF wheel bearing installed per The Instructions (below). http://www.mgexperience.net/article/mg-midget-wheel-bearings.html 21 Aug. - added some grease to right front outer wheel bearing and torqued nut. 22 Aug. - bolted in driver's seat
