Vehicle Detail

1975 Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser in 532 Mustard Yellow. Original paint. 4.5" inch lift with custom springs. Hard-top with full hard doors and wind-up windows. Rear Ambulance Doors. 4-speed Manual on the floor. 3-speed T-case. Standard original axles with 4:11 diff ratio. Original 4.2L straight-6 (2F) motor. Comes with the ORIGINAL Owner's Manual and OEM Repair Guide, original old-school Conn-Ferr roof rack, some spare parts and a bunch of nuts and bolts. I found this 1975 Toyota FJ40 in the back field of an old neighbor's property. I have put 2 years of love and money into it. I have only put about 1000 miles on it. All locally. My wife recently wanted a Tahoe. So I bought her one. Now I have to sell some of my toys. Yay! Runs, drives, registered, insured. It has very little rust (tiny dots on the grill, random tiny spots on the doors and two minor spots on the rear door sill - a very common rust-spot for FJ40s) on the body. Generally rust-free... it is dirty, but it isn't rusty. One rear fender-flare is a little dog chewed... Dents on the doors. One large dent on the driver's rear quarter panel (see pic below) Original: PAINT, BODY, HARD TOP, DOORS (dented), SEATS, MOTOR, TRANSMISSION, TRANSFER CASE, AXLES/DIFFS, POWER DRUM BRAKES, CLUTCH, MANUAL STEERING, MANUAL WINDOWS. GOOD stuff: CARBURETOR - late 70's vintage Rochester 2Jet conversion kit from Man-A-Fre. Rebuilt 2 years ago. DISTRIBUTOR - early 80's vintage GM (points) distributor kit from Man-A-Fre. New points, condenser, cap, rotor, coil, plugs and wires 2 years ago. EXHAUST MANIFOLD - early 80's vintage Man-A-Fre header kit. Needs to have Manifold Gasket replaced (INCLUDED), small crack at collector needs to be welded. ROOF RACK - Original old-school Conn-Ferr roof rack. Minor surface rust. TRAILER FORK - This is in good working order. Functions as a trailer hitch. New bushings. However, I would only use a flat-bed car hauler or tow-dolly to pull this thing around. STORAGE CONTAINER - Cool upgrade from Man-A-Fre. Sits between the frame rails in front of the grille and holds fluids, rags, tools, manuals, rope, tape, etc. GAS TANK - Secondary tank sits under bed. I've never tried using it. I was planning on pulling it and having it boiled out before using it. BAD stuff: SUNROOF - Previous owner "upgrade" DASH PAD - Missing Upgrades/repairs that I have done: 4" Lift -- Custom Standens/McCoy Bros. leaf springs with Poly bushings Rough Country Shocks, Old Man Emu Steering Stabilizer 1/2" Lift GSK-HD Greaseable Shackles and greaseable spring pins and Grade 5 U-bolts CCOT front and rear extended DOT stainless steel braided brake lines (not a good kit -- needs to be replaced) Cragar Soft 8 Wheels with 35" BFG Mud Terrain tires (50% worn). Replaced U-Joints with MOOGs. Removed front roll-hoop which was designed for a different year and rubbed on the doors. Stripped interior (shag carpet, torn headliner, wood boxes, dirt, grease, etc) and Herculined floor. No rust found. As I mentioned before... rebuilt carb 2 years ago. Replaced cap/rotor/wires/plugs/points/condenser/coil in December of 2008. Replaced fuel lines to factory (underseat) tank. Had factory tank boiled out. Installed electric fuel pump. Drained, flushed and refilled the following. Engine Oil (and filter), Transmission gear oil. T-case gear oil. Differentials/axles (Front and Rear) gear oil. Lubed all zerk fittings. Installed tow-ball and used it to haul a small trailer around. Drove it regularly and enjoyed it. Needs: Brake shoes and wheel cylinders should be replaced. Brake hoses should be replaced. I recommend: Transmission and T-case should be rebuilt. Manifold Gasket should be replaced (included). Exhaust collector needs to be welded. New Muffler. (also included with the FJ) Valve Adjustment. Carb Tuning. Turn-signal/brake light wiring needs to be repaired (dog chewed on it). BONUS: I started collecting the parts needed for a front disc-brake conversion - which will be included with the FJ. Includes: pair of mid-model Chevy Malibu/Monte Carlo disc-brake calipers, pair of JoeTLC weld-on caliper brackets. You will still need a pair of machined (larger hub-opening) Chevy 6-lug brake rotors and new brake lines. CA DMV registered and non-op'd (as of last year). SMOG EXEMPT due to 1975 date of manufacture. I recommend brake work before it is driven. I am comfortable driving vehicles with poor brakes. Others may not do so well.
