Vehicle Detail

For sale is my 1991 Toyota MR2 NA. I'm the second owner and have owned her since 1994, purchased with 19K miles. This is a very pure/unmolested MR2 and has been babied her whole life. The car features a sunroof, which is considerably more rare than the T-top version of the car (manufactured 6/90, so one of the first MR2 MKII's in the country). This car is mechanically very solid and I'm not afraid to drive it anywhere. I recently drove it to Saugatuck, MI and back. I have every receipt for every dime ever put into this car (17 years worth of receipts) and the original owner's manuals. The drivetrain on this car is the 5 spd manual, 2.2L NA engine. It has 128k original miles on it and still pulls like the day I got it. The engine doesn't use oil and gets great fuel economy. I'm selling because I have two kids now and my wife doesn't drive a stick leaving us playing musical cars a lot of the time. Good things about the car: - still turns heads - runs great - handles like a dream - gets ridiculous fuel economy. I got over 35mpg on the trip back from MI and routinely get anywhere from 29-33mpg in town A few issues: - No AC. It went out sometime during the Clinton Administration and I never fixed it. For the longest time, this was a third car and my "fun car" so drives were short jaunts with the windows and sunroof open. - The trunk leaks in heavy rain or a carwash (common with these cars). This is a simple seal replacement and since it's been garaged it's whole life and rarely went out in the wet I never bothered. - The driver's side electric door lock only opens the locks and will only occasionally lock them. This just started happening a few months back. Could be as easy as spraying some contact cleaner on it, or it may need a new switch. I just hit the passenger side switch and move on. Has a 6 disc CD changer in the trunk and the original owners manuals and tools. Whoever buys this car will have to promise me that they will give me a chance to buy it back when the time comes that they want to sell. I've had this car 17 years (longer than I've known my wife!) The lucky winner of the auction is getting a fantastic car. I'll throw that in, as well.
