Vehicle Detail
Time to part with a very special car. This is a 1992 Jaguar Vanden Plas V12. This was the last of the Series III Body Styles for Jaguar and to commemorate the end of production, Jaguar Canada specially ordered 100 final cars all fully optioned and individually numbered. This is number 94 of 100, so there were only six made after this one. The Jaguar Series III XJ was built from mid-1979 to the end of 1992 inclusively. This design was a refinement by Pininfarina of the original Lyons design for the XJ and it was termed by the press "the most beautiful saloon ever produced"... and it still is. So why are these cars special? Apart from the fact that they are the last 100 of a particular model of Jaguar's arguably most beautiful saloon, these cars were designed by Jaguar Canada to be collector cars. In an interview with the Toronto Globe and Mail at the beginning of January 1992 a spokesman for Jaguar Canada stated that most of them are now allocated to buyers and that these last V12 Vanden Plas cars will command a premium price as a collector's items in about 20 years. This car is finished in Black Cherry paint. This is one of two special colors that most of the final run were finished in, and were unique to this final 100 production. The body is very solid, but does have some rear door dents from the prior owner's parking lot encounters. With just over 137,700 original kilometers on the car (~85,500 miles) the car is in good condition, and with some TLC can easily be brought to collector quality. The Buy It Now price reflects excellent value. The interior of this final run was specified with all upgrades and are full leather in Doeskin piped in Buckskin; all have the full Daimler Double Six trim: premium burl walnut inlaid with Peruvian boxwood, and so on. They all have a Bosch ABS braking system and an Alpine radio/cassette/CD system with a 6 stack CD unit installed in the boot. The car is fitted with the Kent alloy wheels. It also has the final single switch fitting to adjust the side view mirrors consistent with the end of production. In motion, these cars are sublime. The Jaguar V12 and GM 400 combination is silky smooth with seemingly limitless power. The ride and comfort cannot be surpassed even by the latest Jaguars. There simply is nothing on the road more elegant than a Series III Jaguar, and the 1992 V12 Vanden Plas is the ultimate Series III car. This Jaguar runs, shifts and drives effortlessly. Wood, leather, interior are in good shape. The skislope wood should be replaced to match the excellent condition of the dash. With a few weekends work this could easily be on the show circuit. The dash wood has beautiful burl and is darker than the photos indicate. The reason for selling is that I have too many Jaguars and not enough space or time to enjoy them. These cars deserve to be driven and seem to perform better and better the more they are driven. Please feel free to ask any questions.
