1978 Fiat 124 Spider - ACTUAL VIN#124CS10132644 I have owned this Fiat 124 Spider for over 20 years. It is the result of our Father/Son first car recondition. This Fiat served my son well and after a few years it was driven into our temperature controlled warehouse. It has lived under cover for the past 20 years. Wanting to keep the youngster safe, we installed an Autopower roll bar with padded cover (thankfully, never used). We installed a beautiful Ruspa wood steering wheel to replace the old damaged one and a Bayless, Inc. sport free flow air filter to replace the missing air cleaner. We installed a Marelli Plex 201 electronic ignition to replace a defective distributor and an Ansa free flow rear exhaust in place of the rusted-out original. Our emission equiptment is in place, almost new top, Fiat floor mats, AM/FM radio with cassette player are included. This double overhead camshaft, four cylinder 1800cc engine runs well and the 5 speed transmission shifts well. The only mechanical item questionable is the brakes. After 20 years in storage, this system needs attention. Body is truly solid. A quarter size rust spot is behind the front wheel on the outer body. A number of dings on each rear fender (visible in the photos) we inherited from the previous owner and guess they were from the tire jack loose in the trunk sliding from side to side. The outer paint is rough and discolored and needs a repaint. All chrome looks good. Interior is original and in good condition except for the driver's side seat cushion that has two splits that look repairable to me. There is also a small tear in the door panel upholstery (see photo). That way, you could keep this original upholstery. Back in the day, Car & Driver magazine called 1978 Fiat 124 Spiders "the finest all-around convertible money can buy". This low mileage Fiat Spider has a solid body, interior and running gear.
