Vehicle Detail

1971 OLDSMOBILE 442 W-30 CONVERTIBLE My friend saw this classic at the Volo Auto Museum in January of 2001 and it has been in his garage ever since. He fell in love and had to have it. This clone car is an excellent example of one the best American muscle cars ever built. This car was correctly restored to look and perform like the very rare W-30 Convertible. The car has a Ram Air 455 and an Automatic transmission with factory dual gate shifter, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes. Functional Ram Air Hood, Rear Spoiler, Cut Out Rear Bumper and Rally Wheels. Inside has Bucket Seats, Console, Sport Steering Wheel, Tilt Steering column and full Set of Gauges including Tic-Toc-Tack. He has only put a little over 20,000miles in the ten or so years he has owned it. He has receipts from both the previous owner and all of his own. He did make a few of his own improvements. This comes with all of this paperwork and more like the Volo listing, a Video of the car from Volo and owners manual. This 40 year old car looks and drives great, it’s a very solid car. The restoral of the car was done a little over 11 years ago and it has held up well, there are a few small issues I will describe. Outside: the paint overall looks very nice and has an outstanding shine. I have seen no signs of rust or repairs coming through. There are a couple of cracks in the very front of the hood. The left rear quarter should be redone to make it 100% because there are a few scuff marks and chips. Also my friend is a body shop tec. and at one point thought that he wanted to paint the car Viking Blue, so he started with the wheels and never got to the rest. And last on the list unfortunately someone not very nice put an 8” or 9” slice in the new roof, I believe it can be repaired, I know a new roof is about $800. (All photos in the listing) Inside: The seats are very comfortable and have no rips or tears, the dash has no cracks, the rugs are in great shape but are sun faded in spots, some of the wood grain is not looking that great but he tells me he has replacements he needs to find and they will go with the car. Also the trunk has a small amount of surface rust under the mat, also in the trunk is a car cover that goes with it. Mechanically: This car runs out great and is truly a pleasure to drive. The motor is very strong, starts right up no smoke every time, sounds sweet, smooth and tight. The transmission shifts out on point. There are only a few things I could pick the tack is not working, A/C and heat are not working (no fan) maybe something simple. That’s everything I could find and having said that I feel like I have pick the car apart and now I want to share with you the up side, this car is a blast to drive and not all full of rattles. It is geared a little high so it’s a joy to cruise down the highway. He does have the motor tuned just right, very responsive and reliable. This is a car you can hop in and cruise all day or just take the family out for ice cream. Ether way it is a very enjoyable car to drive and it gets thumbs up and great compliments wherever it goes. My friend has decided to let go of one dream to pursue another he is moving into a new house and wants to sell the car. I believe he is very realistic on his price.
