Vehicle Detail

Hello This is a 1965 Triumph Herald 4-Seater Convertible. I have had it about 5 years. I purchased it from an older gentleman whose son had extensively restored it in the early 90's, then passed away. It had been stored in his garage since then, but then he needed the space. It is a Remarkably fun car to drive. I've had it up to 65mph on the highway, but I would not call it a highway cruiser. Tree-lined lanes, Perfect. My local garage, unfamiliar with Triumphs have had No trouble maintaining it, and replacing what has been required. I have a number or repair manuals and it is very easy to work on. As far as I know, all mechanical issues have been addressed, but it Is 46 years old, and can't say Nothing will ever need anything. I'd planned on having it painted ( the paint was not pro, has touch-ups, peeling, crazing, dull spots) having the roof replaced ( the sides don't seem to be quite long enough and if you don't make a point of snugging it by the rear seats, water will get in in a heavy rain, and there is a small tear over the driver) and having the carpets replaced (poorly fitting and crumbling/crumbled in spots). But I've been planning to do that for near 5 years now, and have no garage (but covered winters) and would like someone to give it the care it deserves. The plate says Interior color 26 Trim 16. I think that was a blue on blue scheme, originally. There is No rust I can see (again, 46 years old, but can't see any poking through the paint or underneath). If there is rust, it is subtle. After sitting out the winters under a cover, it always starts within 2 minutes (choke, pump, repeat) and starts lightning fast once back on the road. I have the oil changed every spring. After-market console w/ cd/aux in/ Blaupunkt speakers, map light, lighter. The radio picks up engine noise, but once the top is down, who cares. Feel free to ask any questions, not an expert, but will do my best. I can send anyone interested a link to Many more pictures. It is not currently insured/registered (sticker expired 3 months ago, always gets one quickly). Around town, it gets between 35 and 40 mpg. You should be advised a quick trip to the store in this car usually ends up involving a half hour of chatting to former strangers. I know nothing about shipping vehicles, so be sure you know all about if if shipping is required. (shipping not included) ********************************************************** Some popular questions answered: It has a 4-speed transmission. It does not have an overdrive. If you position the top correctly, it does Not leak (hardly..). The engine is 1147cc 8.0:1 It goes on the highway, but all those Yugos zooming by can be distracting. It has a spare, but no jack. The trunk has a folding leatherette covered item covering the spare. Will add more as they come up. best On Aug-17-11 at 03:37:37 PDT, seller added the following information: More Popular questions: Numbers on engine block: GA122962HE Link to engine number decoder: http://www.triumphspitfire.com/enginenumbers.html It is a Model 1200, the STC-65 is listed on the plate riveted to the door jamb. It could certainly Use paint/top/carpeting to make it perfect, but can be driven enjoyable as-is. I do not know what is under the paint regarding body filler. There are no obvious chunks of Bondo. It appears the frame was coated w/ some sort of preservative. I cannot guarantee there is no rust or corrosion or pitting anywhere, if you need an mint vehicle, a 46 year old car under 4k may not be for you. There is doubtless some pitting on the chrome.
