Vehicle Detail

1989 Porsche 944 TurboS for Street or Track High Power, Incredible Handling and Fantastic Brakes!! I have enjoyed owning this car for nearly 11 years and spared no expense on its maintenance and enhancement. But in December 2010 I got an irresistible deal on a 2004 Porsche GT3. Because I had no plan to sell the car until I unexpectedly bought the GT3, the new owner will get the benefit of all the maintenance, and have a car that they can drive away without having to do any corrective work. Or, take it right out to any track event and have a ball!! Mechanically identical to the iconic 1988 TurboS, this model has significant suspension (M030), braking and power advances over previous years’ non-S turbos, including a height adjustable front suspension, stronger spindles/hubs, reinforced frame, transmission oil cooler and a heavy duty limited slip differential. It’s fast, well sorted, easy to drive, reliable, and affordable. Always garaged and no cracks in the dash, there are 25,000 miles or less on the engine, tires, and major suspension and brake components. This 1989 Porsche 944 TurboS has been fully serviced and maintained by an independent Porsche shop, Lynmor Motorsports, with professional racing experience (Le Mans, Daytona, etc.) The engine block was refreshed and sleeved by famous race engine builder Jon Milledge. The final assembly was done by Chris White of 944Enhancement.com fame and included installation and dynamometer set-up of the Electromotive TEC3 engine management system. Raceware studs were used to install the head. The connecting rods and crankshaft were precision balanced and the flywheel was lightened 8 pounds by an FAA certified aviation machinist who also magnafluxed the engine internals. The Turbo Cup clutch disc features a full Kevlar friction facing. At 18 pounds of boost, dyno runs show 320+ rear wheel horsepower (see the attached photo of the dyno pull) equivalent to nearly 400HP at the crank. On the track I normally run 15 pounds of boost with pump gas, but the manual boost controller can be turned up as high as 20 if you need to pass someone! With 50-50 weight distribution and a body, suspension and brakes reflecting Porsche’s racing experience (944 Turbo Cup cars), the car has incredible track handling. It has never been raced, but it performs fantastically well during track events at Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, Pocono, Summit Point and New Hampshire Speedway. The control arms were replaced in late 2010; the head and valves were done at the same time, and the speedometer was rebuilt by Palo Alto Speedometer.
