Vehicle Detail
I have the original 1971 dealers car invoice and orginal dealers statement of sale on the Austin and original book. There is small story behind the america and i will try to make this as clear as possible. Back on 4-9-71 a Hxxx Miller bought the 1971 Austin America but on 3-17-70 he bought another 1969 (leftover) america. The 1969 that he bought was in an accident at about 6,xxx miles not sure of exact millage as or right now ( i do have the dash out of it just not in gargae to get exact millage off of the dash)(when i bought 1971 america got the 69' as parts car thats why i have dash and have milage) anyways so ya it was totalled and put in his garage where it was for the next thirty years!! The 1971 that he later bought blew a hole in tranny at 9,3xx miles. The man who originally bought both had the 69' in garage because of accident and then put the 71' in garage due to tranny problem. Well in 2010 he was finally going to scrap them and he told a friend who had a friend that said do not let him scrap them ill buy them for more. This guy is a mechanic mostly mg so he knew the value... He bought them tore the 69' accident car apart and built the 1971' (car for sale). He used the 1969 trannsmission because it was in an accident transmission was not affect and he bolted it on to the 1971 motor as i understand. He also used all the very good condition parts form the 1969 on the 1971 to make the 1971 a solid roadworthy car. I hope that makes sense but yes i have the interior form the 69 mint mint mint that goes with the 1971 as well as a ton of parts from the 69 windows, motor parts, cylinder head, ect. The 1971 was put on temp plates by the mechanic and then when they expired i bought the car and i had temp plates on it as well but it is a one owner car because neither me or the mechanic registered it. the car has had a ton of work new starter, new plugs, wires, tranny fluid, engine oil, brake fluid and pads on front, coolent flush, hydrolastic suspension fluid replaced, fuel pump, and couple other things. The car was painted by the mechanic flat blue and what you see is what you get no patch work or body filler!! The car has newer tires. I also have all the paper work and book for the 69 austin used to build the 71 and yes its the sme original owner on paper work to verify the story above . The car is in very good shape as it was stored for so long starts right up now and runs awsome. the car has had a ton of work and only has 6,xxx on tranny and 9,3xx on motor !! Does need some work like the side trim is not on but i do have it and the turn ights do not work all the time they pick there days just small things. I hope everything i have tried to explain was clear if not message me but ya great car comes with $2500 in parts alone from the 69 (educated guess on value of parts due to internet prices) Rare fun sporty little thing.
