Vehicle Detail
A Rare 1957 Lincoln Mark II all original paint, interior, v8 285HP engine, low mileage, chrome, etc, missing front bumper. Car has been sitting in climate controlled storage for 40 years. Continental for 1956 - 7 was one of the most expensive cars in the world -- with a cost of $10,000 at a time when a regular Ford could be had for less than $2000, it rivaled Rolls-Royce. But despite its astronomical price tag, Ford Motor Company actually lost money on each one sold. On a side note, Cadillac suffered a similar financial loss with its own Continental rival, the four-door Eldorado Brougham. Vehicles such as these were image builders for the two companies, as well as test beds for new ideas and concepts. The Continental Mark II was sold for just two model years, with about 2,500 total units built. Less than several hundred in existence today. Finding a restorative or drivable survivor is very rare. The car is equipped with an auto trans, powerful V8, air conditioning, power windows and seats. interior is in amazing condition along with chrome inside and out. Doors open and close with no sag or pop. There is no rust on the body, frame or floors. Underneath the car is truly shocking. The engine turns freely but I have not attempted to start it. The wheels all spin and trans seems to shift gears. From what I can tell the car was hit in the front and that's why it was put into storage someone had started straightening the fenders but never finished. The motors for the seat and windows all work properly. Additional the passenger side quarter is pushed in and needs to be pulled out. This car will need a full restoration so don't expect to dive it away. I'm not sure about the mileage so don't hold me to it. I have title in hand and ready to go. Call Paul 973-668-1338. This is the second to last car ever produced out of less than 2500. And according to experts I've spoken to its the last one to found to be in existence. On Jul-25-11 at 19:20:01 PDT, seller added the following information: The car is in Caldwell NJ and anyone who would like to come see it is welcome just call me to make arrangements. I've mistakenly posted the wrong speedometer picture and will repost the correct one tomorrow with the correct mileage. On Jul-26-11 at 06:21:05 PDT, seller added the following information: CORRECTION: I've reposted the correct odometer with the actual original mileage of 37K along with some new pics.
