Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is an all-original, one-owner “barn find;” a 1966 Chrysler New Yorker. It now runs, drives, and stops. This is a “No Reserve” auction; the highest bid owns this car! Only bid if you’re serious. Please, no bidders with a feedback score less than 10 unless you email me first. And we won’t be ending the auction early; please don’t ask. This excellent specimen was purchased brand-new in 1965 at Johnson Chrysler Plymouth in Auburn California by Raymond Larsen, for his wife Clarise. It was driven locally around Camino and Placerville (and always garaged) until the early 1990’s, when it was parked in a barn on the Larsen property in Camino. There it has sat for nearly two decades… now Raymond’s son Earl is putting the car up for sale. You can see the video of it being pulled out of the barn and getting cleaned up and fixed HERE. The odometer reads 8,957 miles, so it is assumed that the car has 108,957. The body, paint, interior, and drivetrain are all original. The AM radio still works! The car is equipped with a 4-barrel 440 V8 and Torqueflite 727 transmission. It has power steering and power brakes. The dash is in excellent shape. Overall, for it’s age, this vehicle is in remarkable condition! But, it is still a 45-year-old car that was a regular driver, and it’s been sitting for nearly 20 years; there are plenty of flaws, and it needs TLC. The front seat is worn through at the drivers-side edge. The drivers door doesn’t shut properly, and has some damage. There is a dent on the drivers side rear wheel skirt. There are scratches and door dings all over the body. The tires are worn, and the front-end is out of alignment. One of the wheel cylinders is slowly leaking brake fluid. An overflow tank is cracked. In getting the car prepared for sale, a new battery has been installed, the oil has been changed, the other fluids have been topped off, and both the upper and lower radiator hoses have been replaced. The alternator and voltage regulator have been replaced, and all the spark plugs have been changed. It has been registered, and is now legal to operate. Even though this car does run, drive, and stop, I don’t know how far it can really be trusted. Drive it back to Miami at your own risk. When the car sells, an immediate deposit of 10% is due, with full payment expected in hand within 7 days. If you can’t do this, DON’T BID. If you like, you can view and test drive the car; just contact Morgan for an appointment. (Email me through this site, or call 925-788-9991.) Also, I can send other pictures if there’s something specific you want to see. Thanks for looking! Left front view Right front view Rear view Beautiful dash! Decent interior Fantastic headliner! Back seat is in pretty good shape Trunk, with spare and original jack Registered, with the original gold / black plates! Original 440 V8, with 4-barrel carburetor 440, with new alternator, belts, hoses, fluids, etc. Underside, rear Underside, front Again, thanks for looking! If you haven’t seen the video yet of the car being uncovered in the barn, click HERE:On Aug-03-11 at 08:59:57 PDT, seller added the following information: August 3, 2011: I am adding photos of the VIN tag, fender tag, the Certicard, and the engine numbers. The top line of the engine code reads “B 440”. The bottom line appears to simply be “24”. Door VIN tag Certicard Fender tag Engine stamping I just noticed that eBay has listed that the interior is gray... it's green. Not sure what changed. The system won't allow me to change it. Also, I just wanted to emphasize again that this car has not been restored, and needs work. If you're a serious buyer, you can view (and test drive) this vehicle by emailing me or calling me to set up an appointment. 925-788-9991. Thanks for looking!
