Vehicle Detail

Selling my 1972 Chevy Chevelle SS. Car is in black primer now but was originally red (see pics). It has a worked 350 engine with a Holly 650 4 barrel carb and a 4 speed trans (not the Muncie) it has the original Hurst shifter from the car I was told when I bought it. I have had the car longer than I have been married, 17years. I would love to restore it back to its glory days but do not have the time or money to do so anymore. I am hoping to find it another person who will bring it back to life. The car is a true SS, the plate on the cowl fell off and into the fender, I have not been able to find it, I'm sure there are other ways to verify this. The car runs and runs great, the motor was rebuilt 8 years ago and only has about 4000 miles since done. It is not the original motor or trans from the car but is from the same generation. The car originally came with a 350 with 4 barrel and a 4 speed trans. The engine specs: 350 4 bolt mains with a high volume oil pump, 194 heads, 280/480 cam, pre 1969 Corvette Edelbrok C4B intake manifold, Blackjack headers, true duel exhaust system (no cross over pipe) and Flowmaster 2 chamber mufflers and 2 1/2 inch alum pipes, Holley 4 barrel carb new fuel pump, new high torque starter, MSD ignition and a MSD Blaster 2 coil. The engine starts right up and runs strong, header gaskets need replacement. The car has been sitting for the last 4 years, before that I drove it on the weekends to my car club outings. Very fast when I was driving it, couldn't keep the tires on the ground. The car has a 3:71 12 bolt posi rear with front and rear El Camino big block coil springs and boxed in rear trailing arms, I like the rear of the car sitting high instead of the stock lower look. Now the bad, the car needs body work, looks straight to me (I am not a body guy, I am a mechanic) there is some bondo on the car but unsure as I have not done body work to it since I've owned it. The floor boards and trunk floor need replacement and the front left fender hit a wall in the rain (looks like fender and headlight assy and front bumper (will throw in a loose straight front bumper with car), frame and hood alright. The trunk has not open in a year and a half, the key turns in the cylinder but the latch seems stuck. There is rust. The engine has A/C and worked 3 years ago, have not tried it since. The steering gear box leaks at the bottom seal (normal) and now steering is hard to turn. The brake master cylinder was leaking and had to be topped off every once in a while and now the brake system needs work due to sitting. I do have the original rear SS bumper, it was rechromed and given to me with the car when I got it, it is still wrapped in paper, I have not seen it and will be offered with car if a reasonable offer is made for it otherwise it will be sold separately. The interior is black and will need work as well. Front seat is splitting on bottom cushion and has seat covers on it. It originally came with white and black interior but I put that aside because it needed work and being a mechanic I did not want to get it dirty, I will throw the parts in for free if car sells for what I want. No guarantee on condition, they have been in boxes in my shed for years, not all the pieces are there as well. Payment is to be made within 3 days of end of auction unless arrangements have been made with me prior (local pick up). Payment is due at or before pick up. Please if you have any questions email me before bidding and I will answer quickly, usually the same day or latest by that evening. You are more than welcome to see the item if you are local before bidding, email me for arrangements. I love my car and wish I were able to keep it, but just rather see it given a good home where some one will care for it the way I wish I could, this is a hard choice for me but the house bills come first. I am very upfront and honest with the listing because that’s how I would want to be treated if things were reversed. Please be assured that everything in this listing is true to the best of my knowledge and will be glad for any input you may have about it. Please note: the front and rear license plates as well as the custom 3rd brake light and the baby moon hubcaps do not come with the car. Thank you for looking at my auction, hope you win... On Jul-22-11 at 14:46:31 PDT, seller added the following information: People have asked for a buy it now option, I have added it. The reserve price is lower than the buy it now. Make me an offer, be realistic about it...On Jul-25-11 at 16:06:16 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had questions about the cowl plate, the plate fell off into the fender a couple of years ago, I have not been able to find it. The cowl does have some rust on it as I stated in auction ("there is rust"), there are minor spots in the cowl that small rust spots (holes) have formed nothing major, part of resto. I am sure there are other ways to verify vehicle other than the plate. I bought it as an "SS" 17+ years ago, all the markings are there, the dash, the boxed in rear trailing arms. The VIN states car originally came with a small block 350, 4 barrel carb and 4 speed trans, the SS came with those options in 1972. The car was originally solid red, also an option for SS in that year... If you have issues or concerns please email me, I am not trying to hide anything and state all to the best of my knowledge and ability. Again, I am only selling due to financial issues (need my house), otherwise I would not be selling... Thanks again.
