Vehicle Detail
Incredible 1983 Jeep CJ-7 rock-crawl ready or take it to the beach! This Jeep has been such a source of happiness, I hate having to do this, but life has some different priorities for me. This is NOT your typical Jeep. Where do I start.? Jeep is an 1983 that had been living in Arkansas before I bought it in 2005. The vehicle has NEVER been driven in the snow the frame of this Jeep is immaculate and not rusty at all. My GF's 2001 TJ is in far worse shape than my 83 CJ. It has ALWAYS been stored for the winter indoors and well maintained since I got my paws on her. Engine/Engine compartment/Exhaust: AMC 304 V8, with headers, straight pipes and glass-paks heading out to dual exhaust. (I have a brand new set of Headman Headers still in the box for the Jeep.) I added a Mallory optical distributor that never needs maintenance and always fires perfect. I also added a MSD coil and Optima yellow-top AGM battery. She fires up on the first shot and runs like a top. In the deep cold of winter, she will fire on at least the third turn of the key! I have always changed oil frequently and maintained all levels and belts. Radiator is a 4-core “heat-buster” no problems with cooling since it was installed Suspension: Pro Comp 4 inch lift with shackles that are an inch or two longer than stock. Super-Swamper TSL Boggers 34 x 17.5 on American Racing aluminum rims. 5th tire has never hit pavement. Front is a Dana 30 with a Power traks Lock Rite locker and 4.56 gears Rear axle is a Dana 20 with the one piece Mosier axle, a Power traks Lock Rite Locker, and 4.56 gears. The transfer case is a Dana 300, and I've never had a problem with it. The transmission is a Borg Warner T-5 5 speed, which is in good shape and has never given me a problem. Hubs have been changed out from the stock 5 bolt to a stronger 6 bolt with “Warn” locking hubs. Drive line yoke straps have been modified with Ford U-bolt style and are so much stronger than the stock straps. All brake lines are new and I have added New blue stainless braided brake lines up front. I have new E-brake cables, complete that will go with the jeep and need to be installed. I have replaced ALL of the lighting around the Jeep since it came into my possession. Front markers, rear tail-lights, directionals, headlights and all bulbs are new. I recently installed a new gas tank that is thick poly with a new sending unit. The sending unit will need to be hooked up. Interior: The interior has been re-done. I removed everything and had the the tub blasted, then POR-15’d and finally masked and sprayed with Line-X bed-liner (a far superior product than rhino or any other coating) I installed a new Tuffy solid steel locking center console and installed a brand new SD card capable stereo (to prevent skipping while going down the trail) this stereo is installed but not wired and has not even been used yet. I have two new speakers and speaker boxes/cup-holders that fit behind the roll bar. These are new and have not been installed yet. The rear seat is a Best Top fold and tumble model and has been in the jeep for three-four years. Rear seat belt is new also. Old dash is still in the Jeep however, I have a New complete dash that will go with the jeep to the buyer. Simply paint and install for a new dash. I installed a new temp sensor that works awesome. New speedometer, speedo cable, but it needs to be hooked up at transfer case. Also on the interior, I completed the heater system modification and added a Blazer blower fan. The whole heater box has been upgraded and modified with the new blower/paint and vents and cables…all new and works great! She also has a feature few jeeps have - a hand throttle. You can control the throttle via a hand throttle on the shift that allows you to keep steady throttle while rock-climbing. This prevents “jumping” while wheeling due to your foot bouncing on the pedal. NICE! to have this mod while wheeling. Exterior: Could use some new paint! This has always been my biggest “want” for the Jeep however, it is a JEEP and as such, she looks the part. I have seen worse, I have seen better. Jeep has the original hard top with both side doors all original and in great condition. I also have a Safari-top (not a bikini, this is longer so it covers the rear passengers) I added some NEW Bushwacker 4” flares to keep the police happy and they look incredible. There is way too much to list here and I am sure I have forgotten a few tings. Hit me up. I’d be happy to talk about my girl.
