Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is an 88 4runner SR5 V6 4X4 5 speed with 295,950 miles, in pretty good shape, cold A/C, and runs strong. Exterior: Has the usual dents and dings for being 23 years old. See photos of a few significant ones. Paint is pretty good, not oxidized, no rust, decals are fair but a little ruff on the fringes. Top has newer red paint that matches body, but not perfect. Interior: Has one small tear in the front seat on the middle of the lower cushion about 1.5 inches long. A few cracks in the dash but not wide or intrusive. Sun roof works great and removes nicely with no leaking. Carpets good with no major stains, but a little ruff in far back. As far as I can tell it has not been smoked in, and windshield does have a small crack about the size of a dime, which can be filled. Mechanical: When I bought it in Dec. of '10 I replaced:Radiator and hosesIdle arm and alignmentThrottle position sensorEGR valveFull tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotter)New BFGoodrick KO 31' x 10.5'x15' (about 1000 miles on them now)Changed oil to Valvoline 10/40Fuel filterClutch Master and Slave cylinderClutch line and Clutch hose Things I would Check/Fix if I were to keep it:Not sure about the 4x4, worked when I bought it but have never really taxed itShampoo the interior and fix tear in drivers seatLock on drivers door works but is looseValve covers leak oilHas an Idle problem that comes and goes. When its warmed up it low idles on occasion, but as soon as you turn on the A/C its fine...? Over view: Its a good little truck, not perfect but what is in this world... I bought it as a third vehicle just for fun, but I don't drive it much and we need a mini van. Its this or the FJ-60, so the 4Runner is up for grabs. I looked for a long time for the V6 5speed combo and this on was the nicest I found. I had the same truck years ago only with an automatic that was a night mare (no power/ tran'e trouble). And this V6/ standard is a nice match; tight/ with plenty of power/ and 17-19mpg. Like I said, nice truck but don't use it enough to justify it. Good luck
