Vehicle Detail

Please Note: We installed the full windshield, windshield wipers and fitted the wind wings. All are in NEW condition and fit very well. After a few more hours in the sun, I will be able to close all of the snaps. European Collectibles on PCH is pleased to offer this Lotus Super 7 by Birkin. This Birkin Super 7 was imported as a rolling chassis and body from S. Africa in the early 1990s by a builder of Porsche Speedster replicas who planned to expand his business to include the Super 7. After a few years the cars still hadn't been painted or received running gear, so this one was sold to a local Newport Beach enthusiast for completion. The new owner wanted a twin-cam four-cylinder engine that had been designed for use in a rear wheel drive car, so a 1.8L Mazda Miata engine and gearbox were considered the best fit. Wilwood disc brakes were installed up front and the solid rear axle received drums. High quality Fly Yellow paint was applied to the aluminum and fiberglass body and the interior was trimmed in high quality black vinyl . The car is complete with both a full windshield and the Brooklands screen currently fitted. A top, full tonnea and side curtains are included as well. The yellow paint and black interior are in excellent condition, however there is some light pitting to the chrome roll bar and headlights due to the fact that the car was stored in a garage near the beach. This Birkin has traveled just 599 miles and remains in excellent condition throughout. It is extremely fast and very well set-up. If you wish to export this vehicle, it can be delivered to customs and cleared for release within two days of receiving your payment in full. We are also willing to ship anywhere in the USA and we are happy to make the arrangements, but the cost of transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. The car is for sale in our showroom and may be sold at any time unless the car meets reserve (at which point, we will consider it sold). If you are a California resident or wish to tow this car away from our dealership yourself, we must charge sales tax, registration and a $55 document handling fee. Out of state residents must use licensed carriers who can provide us with a bill of lading or sales tax is due. This car is titled and currently registered in CA as a 1973 Lotus with VIN LSC2424TC. Due to the 1973 model year status, it is smog exempt. Please feel free to call 949-500-0945 or email me with any questions or to set up a time to inspect the car which is permanently located at the address below. Todd WertmanEuropean Collectibles on PCH600 West Coast HwyNewport Beach, CA 92663www.EConPCH.comOn Jul-20-11 at 13:20:36 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks very much for the overwhelming response. I have tried my best to answer your questions as completely as possible. To those of you who asked, "when, where and under what circumstances was the Miata motor purchased," I finally have the answer. There is a VIN tag on the side of the block - it reads JM1NA3535S0605514. I ordered a CarFax which shows that the Miata was purchased new in San Jose, CA and remains in CA with just 19,000 original miles. Then I googled the VIN and found a classified ad from a year ago when the original owner sold his 1995 Mazda Miata which was powered by a 500+ horsepower Ford 302/331 supercharged V8. I sent him an email and he kindly responded saying that the Miata motor was removed from his car in May 2006 with less than 1,000 miles on it. So, if you add the 600 miles that are now on the Lotus odometer to the less than 1,000 miles from the Miata, we know there are less than 1,600 original miles on this drivetrain. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
