Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1980 model Porsche 911SC targa that can be considered a true, low mileage survivor. Purchased new by a physician in Roslyn, New York on May 9,1980, this one was to become a fair weather cruiser - always garaged and well cared for but never left outside and never driven in harsh weather. History is somewhat unknown until 2000 when it was purchased by the most current owner with an odometer reading of just 70,000. During this period of time the owner was spending his summers in upstate New York and eventually New Hampshire, always keeping state inspections current as well as steady maintenance. In August of 2004, inspection showed there were a couple of broken head studs so the car went into the shop for a complete rebuild. This work was done at Squam Lakes Automotive in Holderness, New Hampshire and totaled over $10,000. Work done at that time included removing engine and transmission, replacing all head studs and totally rebuilding the engine. New clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, throw-out bearing and ring gear - as well as installing a hydraulic tensioiner kit. All work is fully documented with receipts showing parts and labor. This owner spared no expense making sure that all bases were covered and there were no short cuts taken - his mind set was to leave no stone unturned and do whatever was required to bring the car back to it's full potential. At the time of his purchase in 2000 - the mileage was 70,000. In 2004, at the time of the rebuild, the mileage was 82,524..........today, the odometer reads just over 85,000 miles........just over 2500 miles since the complete rebuild. Needless to say the little targa pulls strong and tight and all brakes, steering and electricals function just as they should. The car has fresh Bridgestone Potenzas mounted with less than 50 miles and comes with owner's manual, maintenance booklet, tools and service records from 2000 to current. Exterior is factory paint code 708 of Black Metallic and there has been one respray several years back - the paing shows very well and there is absolutely no history of collision. Interior is tan leather and car features working a/c.......although as with nearly all older model air-cooled 911s, a/c system could surely benefit from a re-charge.........targa top is in very good condition. On Jul-15-11 at 07:23:23 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been asked about the color. Paint is metallic black which is much closer to a graphite color than black - depending on light and angle, paint can appear to change slightly.
