1958 Chevy 3100 Shortbed Apache Fleetside. This is not your typical old truck needing major restoration. It is an original California Black Plate Fleetside that was babied its whole life. Please take the time to study the photos (and I will ad a link to nearly 100 detailed photos of the truck from top to bottom, and video of it running). This is a running , driving truck for restoration or drive as is. The original Chevy 235 had a crack between the freeze plugs so the block was changed out to a bolt in GMC 228 of the same era. It runs excellent, idles smooth, has good oil pressure and does not smoke, ever. It is mated to the original 3 speed manual on the column. It shifts as it should and clutch feels good. Brakes are very good, stop firmly with no pull to the sides. It goes down the road very nice and straight. I have literally driven hundreds of 40's-50's trucks and this one is in the top 10% in the way that it drives (better than one of my restored trucks). No squeeks or rattles as it goes down the road. It just feels solid. It has 4 new matching Michelin TX Mud and Snow 235/75 R15 tires on its original rims with original hubcabs (all 4 wheels are still green underneath so original to this truck). Steering is tight and kingpins feel great. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. It also has a Brand New Water Pump as the last one was weeping lightly. Glass is good, windshield and rear are crack free as are wing windows and driver side. Though they do have light discoleration at the edges and looks to be the original glass. I was replacing the passenger door glass as it was cracked and cracked the new glass installing it. But everything is there and included, frame, regulator, trim etc.. Heater and driver side visor. The body is EXCELLENT. I hate buying primered classics as they are normally hiding a crappy body. This is definitely not the case here. The original green paint is covered by one coat of primer. See photos. The body is SOLID. One blister smaller than a dime at the bottom of the door on one side (photgraphed). The bedsides are mint inside and out. Back of cab is the same. Looks like it never hauled anything. You would have to really hunt to find even a ding in the body. And it is not lathered in filler either. I shot photos from the inside and out on the body panels so someone who knows what they are looking at can see this for themselves. Interior is clean, original. Seat is out of a later model truck but fits nicely. Dash is original and uncut. I have a milk crate of spares (starter, correct oil bath air filter, fuel pump etc..)
