HELP ... PLEASE ... SOMEBODY SAVE ME !!! I was recently purchased by a couple of brothers that found me in my previous owner's garage - he was my second owner - he enjoyed riding me around town but got bored of me when he purchased his brand new 2006 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail. So, as he enjoyed his new and fancy shmancy HD, I just sat there for many years - no, I wasn't the happiest bike just sitting there is his garage all dusty with cob webs and gummed-up carbs but, I was content because I remained in my original/untouched/stock condition in a protected environment. Now, I overhead these new owners talking about chopping me up and turning me in to some type of Cafe Racer bike or some type of old school rat bobber or something like that (you see, they just opened a small shop building these kinds of bikes - you check them out at www.barebonerides.com) ... anyway, after putting my title in the new owner's name (as he wanted to make me his personal daily bike after those potentially barbaric modifications they were planning), I believe after close examination and coming to a sensible realization that I really should be kept whole and enjoyed by a person looking for a fully stock barn-find of a 1976 Honda CB750K, he realized it would almost be sinful to chop me up and weld me back together to look like one of those darn cafe racers or even worse, a rat/bobber ... yikes ... and what the hell is a rat bobber anyway?!?! So, and very happily, all they did was to take off my carbs and get them fully clean once again, lubed-up my cables, changed my oil with a new filter put in some new Honda OEM seat hinge pins, fix my rear flat tire and put in a new Honda OEM spoke that I must have lost some years ago (which caused my rear tire to leak in the first place) and got me fired-up and running smoothly with no smoke ... not too shabby for a bike that sat for many years - a true testament to the quality of my designers/builders! I now start right up and run smoothly but, I could definitely use a full tune-up, my kick-starter works fine too to get me fired-up, all of my lights and turn signals work (and I bet you didn't even know that my turn signals also have an audible beep to them), the inside of my tank is pretty darn clean too ... and the tread on my rubber is still pretty good with a couple thousand miles left on them! Sadly, my freakin' previous owner lost my stock tool kit that was under my seat along with my owner's manual - I knew he should have just left those things under my seat and not bothered to put them near his Harley stuff! When my new owner transported me back to his shop, I leaked some fork oil from my right seal - serves him right for making those tie downs so darn tight. The previous owner also slightly cracked the lower part of my left side cover (see pics) trying to pry it off instead of gently easing it off ... rats!!! Also, for some reason, my tachometer does not seem to be very accurate as my tach needle reads much higher than my actual revs ... hmmmmm (the new owners temporarily placed another CB tach on me and that worked fine but they wanted to keep my original tach with me). Now, please keep in mind that I am 35 years old so don't expect me to be perfect in every way, I have some slight surface rust, a couple small dings/scratches on my tank (but no rust inside my tank - see pics) along with some of the normal wear and tear you find on us old school rides; however, I don't recall ever being repainted and I don't do make-up but, I look pretty damn good for my age ... probably better than a lot of my sisters that left the Japanese factory with me back in 1976 and likely a lot less miles than my siblings at only 16,768!!! And, I have a clean Florida Title. Anyway, getting back to my original message: SOMEBODY PLEASE SAVE ME ... these brothers are still considering the thought of chopping me up in to one of their custom rides if I don't sell for the amount they need to let me go!!! I really just want to be placed in someone's private collection - perhaps restored or just cleaned-up and called the true barn find that I am!!! Please note that the buyer (my next Owner) will be responsible for all shipping from the current Owner's shop in Merritt Island, Florida. I did over hear the current owner mentioned that he would be willing to work with my next Owner to transport me to a shipper as long as they are near the Orlando, FL area. As I noted previously, you can check out the current Owner's shop and their perspective on custom rides at www.barebonerides.com ... you can even follow some of their builds if you "Like" them at www.facebook.com/barebonerides I really appreciate your time in checking me out - if I am not the bike for you, I wish you much luck on your search for one like me - please don't forget to tell your friends about me though!
