Vehicle Detail

This car is listed for sale on several other car sites and also for sale locally. www.My1970KG.com This car was my Dad's gift to me when I turned 16 in 1993. He piddled with it over the years, adding chrome, working on the interior and working to turn it into a show car. He almost got it there, but passed away in 2008 after 6 months fighting lung cancer. It breaks my heart to sell this car, but I know I can't take care of it the way it needs to be. He wanted it to be a show car and that's what I want to see happen to it. Someone said this car is a "buyers dilemma" because I have such an emotional connection.. Nonsense! I have sold 2 other classic vehicles I had driven for over 10 years and had a deep bond with. I understand the sale of this car is for a greater purpose: the car will be fully restored and see it's full potential and I will use the money to grow my business, something my Dad wanted for me. It's a semi automatic. 1st or Slow gear doesn't work and never has. The mileage is original. It was around 52k when I got it, from what I remember. I only drove it a month into winter the first year I had it. The heater sucked, so I never did that again. After that, it was garaged in the winter. It's solid underneath. When Dad repaired rust on any car, he used metal. He swore that he would only ever put metal in a car, and Bondo only if absolutely necessary. To my knowledge, there is no Bondo in this car. The car was in an accident twice the first year I owned it. The first time, a girl rearended me going about 30 and pushed me into another car. Both front and back were bent up and needed repair. The repair work was done by Karl Kuhlman in Findlay and it was flawless. The second time, I was showing my friend how the heater worked. I looked down for a second and hit the person in front of me. I was only idling but it dinged up the front. Once again, it was repaired by Karl Kuhlman. A few years later, I was parked on the street and a girl pulling out of a driveway backed into my drivers side door. The door was replaced, therefore it is not original. The repair work was done by Karl again, only this time he didn't replaced the rubber strip at the bottom of the window. So it needs replaced. There is a speakerbox in the back and a Kenwood tape deck in the front. The speaker in the middle of the dash has been replaced and works. What you need to do to make this a show car: The last paint job my Dad ever did was on this car. He was very unhappy with it, but he was weak and couldn't operate the paint gun very well. It got orange peel a little bit. He wanted to wet sand it but never got the chance. Also, there are a few places where you will have to retouch it if you buff the paint out. One is the tape spot I've included a photo of here. The emblem with a wolf and castle from the horn ring is missing. When Dad was rewiring the car, and putting in new carpet, he put a lot of parts in boxes. The emblem has never been located. The horn does not work. Once, I was parked on Main street and the horn began to honk. It stayed on until my Dad got there. He had to pull the wires to make it stop. The wires have been removed and you will need them as well as the mechanism for making the horn trigger. The original horn ring was cracked and we replaced it with another one. The underdash rubber pull for the gas lid has a tear in it. It works fine, but if you want it mint, you'll have to get a new one. One of the rear door panels needs replaced. I accidentally left the rear window cracked during a rain shower last year and the rain made the cardboard in the panel warp. The car runs fine, but needs a tune up. It's been stored in the garage for the past few years, with little driving and so it dies easily, particularly when you are stopping at a stop light. The engine slows down and the car dies. It was only something that started to happen after it sat for a while, so I'm sure its just an adjustment. The seat upholstery is good. Dad redid them in the 90s. They have been covered with cloth covers ever since. I don't have pictures of the seats because the cloth covers have been tied onto them and I couldn't seem to undo them without ripping the cords. The black leatherette or whatever it is has been slipped over the original seats, I believe. I may be wrong, but I think that the original leatherette is under it. Because of this, the cover rides a little high in the back, but only maybe an inch and a half. When my brother was working on putting the car back together after Dad died, he didn't do something right and so the heater lever on the passenger side doesn't go down all the way. I think he just has something in the way underneath. It was never that way before and you can push it down.. it just lifts back up on its own, like maybe the cord isn't cinched up right. There are some parts in the carpet where carpet glue seems to show. Also, some parts my Dad used double faced tape to attach it and over time, the tape has lost its stickyness. The carpet was replaced only a few years back, and the car driven only a handful of times afterwards, so it's very new. The wood grain stuff on the dash has a few age cracks in it, but not bad ones. They are in spots that make them really unnoticeable. The black part of the dash has aged. There is a crack below the glove box and also, as the car sat, something popped up through the dash close to where the window meets it. I can't tell what it is. It looks like a little plastic piece of something. I don't remember seeing it before we took it to the electrician, so it's highly possibly that they pushed something through when rewiring. The dome light doesn't work. It used to. After taking it to the electrician, it didn't work. I'd love to talk with you about it. Give me a call if you'd like to ask more questions or see it. 419.788.1016 The car is located at 1444 Byal Ave. Findlay, Oh 45840
