Vehicle Detail
You are Bidding on a 1973 Mercedes Benz 280SE 4.5 Touring Sedan Automatic on the floor.THERE IS NO RESERVEā¦THIS BENZ MUST SELL AND WILL SELL. This Benz runs like the day she came out of the showroom, Tranny shifts very smooth, car drives straight. regularly serviced and fully maintained. Needs nothing, you can drive her away! This car has babied! 87,300 original miles. She starts up every time you turn the key and runs impeccably. Please read my entire ad so I can educate you on these cars, and especially this one! I purchased this Benz from the estate of a Doctor, he owned it for 17 years (2nd owner). I love this car and have had for 2 years, but never get the chance to drive it. I put on 500 miles over the past 2 yrs and she deserves better. This Mercedes is one of the few that made it out of the 1970's in this amazing condition. Runs at high speeds with no shakes or rattles, tight & solid. Genuine Leather seats, not "Mercedes TEX" ( many Mercedes have vinyl seats called "TEX") imitation leather. Many say there is no difference, they never sat on leather seats b/f. these are butter soft. They were recently recovered ($3,000) with new skins and springs (from Mercedes). There's no mistaking the rich look and feel of leather. Better wear, longer lasting, cooler in hot weather, warmer in cool weather, all around better value. The back seat bench was also recovered ($850.00) but not the upright of the back seat. The car was ordered with leather seats. Original carpeting in great condition and wood grain dash is awesome, no fading, has a deep luster. This Benz has no leaks, no rust no rot and has always been a non smoking car.Chrome in excellent condition. Windows go up very fast-Tires have about 90% tread left on them-Upper Dashboard has no cracks whatsoever, and no signs of cracking or fading. Interior headliner is in mint condition, as is the sun visors. Rare: Antenna key included, I have never seen one listed anywhere else. The original (never used) key that was issued by Mercedes to lift the antenna up with ease. You will never see one brand new as is this one. Most wouldn't know what it is! I'm the 3rd owner. This version of the "S" class ( German meaning-Sonderklasse or "special class.) The "SE" was known as the Luxury Car.was one of the last one's made and rolled off the line in Sept. of 1972. This Benz was purchased in June of 1973 at BENZEL-BUSCH Mercedes of Englewood N.J. I'm told it is still there. Many of these cars turned into rust buckets, this is one of the few in superior condition because it has been well maintained by caring owners. These cars tended to leak in the trunk & front seat area under the floor mats and would rot the body, if you buy a Benz from the 1970's be sure to check it out. (see photo's showing these specific area's). This car has never had a leak. I always use Sunoco Ultra gas. Previous owner was a Classical music enthusiast, he swapped out the radio with a Sony Stereo "Benzie Box" an awesome stereo system, a Benzie Box is a radio with a pull up handle so you can pull the radio out & take it with you or put it in the trunk for anti-theft security. I have what I believe is the original radio, When I purchased the car it was in the trunk. However, I have never used it, I can't make any guarantees. I will include radio. This car has not been restored, or repainted, just well taken of and kept in a parking garage most of it's life. The color is Mercedes Dark Red, beige interior. Original paint. All original books that came with the car will be included ( original Mercedes vinyl book holder), plus the original Mercedes issued tool kit that came with car, including all wrenches (emblazoned with Mercedes logo) and original pouch that holds all the tools (also has Mercedes logo). Plus more! Brakes have 250 miles on them, so you won't be doing a brake job for quite a while. New rotors, calipers and new master cylinder (cost $1,100.00). New "OEM" fuel pump - fuel filter & fuel relay. (cost $1,150.00). I have a cover for the car that fits perfect (one of the strings is broken) I will include it to the winner bidder. Data card included. This was the dog tag issued to the original owner with their name engraved on it and the codes to all the specs for this Benz. Blowers all work fine, I have read about people having trouble and needing to replace their blower motors, not the case here. Car has an A/C unit and their blowers also work, I never charged it. When turned on, the unit kicks over & the light comes on, but does not blow cold air. Original padded floor mats (see photo's) in excellent condition. These floor mats were made with a very thick foam pad underneath to block out sound and make for a quieter ride, they cannot be purchased anywhere. Seat belt sensors work on both seats and "fasten seat belt light comes on". Fog lights work great as well as all electrical. Hood has new thick foam (see photo-cost $500-see pix) which keeps down engine sound and helps in event of fire. All Mercedes were equipped with this, but they would fall apart or disintegrate over the years. PLEASE NOTE - being a 38 year old car it has minor imperfections, the paint has some blemishes on the front fender, side door, and hood, but no major dents dings or scratches, and no accidents. Qualifies for antique insurance. Impeccably maintained. I will accommodate an inspection or test drive on the south shore of Long Island. I will not be ending the auction early, so please don't make an offer. USA RESIDENTS ONLY! NON RESIDENTS WILL BE IGNORED. Winning bidder makes $1,000 down payment immediately via PayPal & arranges for full payment within 5 days of listing end, I can hold the car for a reasonable time (i.e. 10-15 days). If no contact is made in 24 hours I re-list. This is a binding contract and no refunds can be made, car is sold "as is". Buyer responsible for pick up. Car will not leave my possession till funds fully clear, plus one day, cash is always best. (too many scammers out there). If you don't have 100% feedback like me, or you are a new member, get in touch. Bid with confidence, I have an impeccable record on eBay for over 11 years.
