Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1939 Buick Special Model 41 street rod. As you can see from the photo's it was rebuilt from the frame up using original plus modern parts to make the car drivable. It is powered by a sb chevy 350 LT1 and an L60E transmission from a 1996 Caprice, when I had the VIN transferred from the original straight eight motor to the frame, DPS verified that the 350 did come from a Caprice with ~60k miles. Before installing it I did install new lower bearings, A/C compressor, and water pump, but other than that I did not touch it. It also has power disc brakes, power steering, power steering front clip is a Fat Man Fab unit, Vintage Air heating/cooling. Interior is redone using Hampton Coach materials. New door sills are period match. All the chrome was re-done a couple of years back and looks great. Front grill is an older aluminum aftermarket. Headlights are blue dot halogens. Front turn signals were added and are from front fender Harley, rear taillights are coffin shaped from a Honda Aero motorcycle. I also spent more than $1500 at Steele Rubber on countless rubber pieces. The new exterior color is House of Kolor red. Full complement of Gauges are Autometer Antique versions. All new glass is tinted glass is not a film type but factory style tint between glass layers. New window felt is period match. Tires are new Road Huggers, wheels painted to match the car. All together I have about 3 times what the opening bid. I discovered that I enjoy working on cars more that driving them and need the room. Car runs great, I do not drive it much, about 60 miles this past year. It starts, shifts, brakes, and runs great. Everything works. I don't know of anything wrong with the car. It has a clear Texas title. The car is not perfect, not a Boyd $40,000 car. It is a very nice 1939 Buick. As I mentioned the paint is new but there some imperfections, if you look just right you can see sanding marks in a couple of areas. Pictures are current as I took them yesterday. One thing I don't like is the turning radius of the car is more than modern cars and there is nothing I can do about it - it is what it is but worth mentioning. I have tried to do a honest assessment of the vehicle, it is sold as is, no warranty expressed or implied. If you have any questions please do not hesitate contacting me and I will respond as soon as possible can. I do have a day job that keeps me quite busy. This is for local pickup in the west Houston Texas area; buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements and I will do my very best to assist. $500 paypal down within 48hrs, remaining balance by certified check within 7 days required and certainly before picking up the vehicle. And no, I will not end the auction early, bid what you think you want to spend.
