Vehicle Detail
Project Dark Phantom This has been an experiment with ‘toning down’ the bronco, making it appear less conspicuous. Although I detest the name, some call this look “murdered out.” Inspired by pictures of old military vehicles, this is what has happened so far to this 1970 Bronco. Equipment: Has the 302 V8 Engine with headers and electronic ignition upgrade (Ford model). It still has the 2 barrel carburetor. I have not seen any smoke from the engine. Dual exhaust. 3 Speed Floor shift conversion by Advance Adapters. Diamond plate floor shift cover. Trans shifts through all gears without noise. Clutch works and there doesn’t seem to be any chatter 9 inch Ford rearend with positraction (confirmed by jacking up and spinning-both rear wheels turn in same direction) and 3.50:1 gear ratio. The tag in the glove box claims that the front axle also came with a positraction differential. (have not verified) Dana 20 transfer case with a pushbutton style T Shifter. Locking front hubs Stock suspension. The C bushings in front have been changed. Newly installed reman brake master cylinder. Origin: Originally sold in Arizona, and is from New Mexico. Has new dark silver/gunmetal grey paint, brand new last month. The interior was painted along with it-the bed, bed sides, dash, doors on the interior side, jambs, etc. A black anti skid paint was sprayed on the floors of this Bronco. Front and rear bumpers were removed for paint. Side trim was taken off for paint. New rocker panels were welded on. The left floor in front had the old metal cut out and a new piece of steel was welded in. The rear fenders have new Bushwacker fender flares that have been painted in the matching gunmetal grey metallic. There is new rubber welting and new black hardware. All of the body trim has been painted in satin black for that menacing phantom look. Lenses have been ‘dimmed down’ to keep you from being spotted while roaming through the darkness on your mission. The steel wheels have been painted in satin black and there are new 30x9.50x15” B.F. Goodrich All Terrain tires that are brand new with the stickers still on them. They have just been installed with maybe about 1 mile on them. New lugnuts. The interior is all new in the Bronco. New dash cover from Tom’s Bronco. Stock style front bucket seats have had the frames repainted black and have been totally recovered with durable black leatherette upholstery. New seat back trim panels have been made and fitted. The door panels are new and have the same black durable material. The armrests have been recovered. The commonly missing rear seat has also been installed, with a newly painted black metal frame and new upholstery on the cushions and armrests. Black visors included. There is a rollbar inside the truck, Stroppe bar. New windshield and seal Headlights have been upgraded to new halogens. The Phantom Bronco still needs various odds and ends. Not a show car. May fix some of these items depending on your responses. Here’s what I know it needs: Needs trac bar bushing. Instrument cluster/wipers not hooked up. Needs steering stabilizer, has a front end shimmy. Skids on one side as it comes to a stop, brakes will need something still. Have never used front fuel tank, not sure what it needs. Mufflers are old. Carburetor could probably use a better choke. Its an old car and as old cars go, it will need fixin! Ford= fix or repair daily. No warranty implied, express, oral, written or otherwise. All sales final. Sold as is. Buyer responsible for shipping. Mileage on car is unknown.
