Vehicle Detail
For your consideration and bidding pleasure is this 1970 Porsche 914 that started life in Germany and shipped to California. The car was purchased by a golf pro and sold after ten years of living in Arizona. The new buyer moved to Las Vegas and the car sat awaiting restoration. I purchased the car and with the capable hands of an excellent local Porsche mechanic, terrific auto body shop, and consistent check writing skills provided by yours truly ......... the car became fun, reliable, and a delight to drive. At the end of the auction the winning bidder is responsible to either pick up the car and drive it home or ship it anywhere in the world they want it at their cost and effort. This car has four wheel disk brakes and beautiful balance with a mid engine gokart feel that I miss everyday that I drive another car. The car is not a concourse winner but a driver and should be enjoyed with the removable hard top on and off. The car is garaged currently and has been for a very long time but is started every two weeks and taken for a drive to get fresh gas and keep everything fresh. The tires have lots of tread but probably need the camber aligned. The Good This car spent its lifespan in places that rust does not and as such the original battery pan and pieces are still intact. The car looks quite nice in jet black and if you disagree you are not obligated to purchase this vehicle. The leather seats are done quite beautifully as is the paint matched gloss top. The car has been switched from fuel injection to a single carburetor at some point along the way and runs nicely. The tires are new and the paint job and engine work each have cost more than the paltry sum for which you will likely pay for this car. The Bad After repainting the car a door hinge pin broke and the drivers door scraped the fender. The door and pins have been repaired however I have not had the door and fender repainted. The interior trim pieces as well as some of the chrome pieces around the car need to be replaced or added, so please look at the pictures and know that there will be some of these trim pieces included with the car, while others may need to be purchased on ebay. What you see is what you get so please look at the pictures and know that window cranks, trunk lock, bits of chrome trim, and windshield wipers will be a fun Saturday project for the winning bidder. The car will also needa tune up as it idles a little low before it warms up. The Ugly (not really about the car) I have sold this vehicle twice and the buyers have never even shown up to pay for the car in full and take away their bidding victory, the deposit is non refundable and the reserve is low (I am not disclosing it though). The handbrake cable will need to be attached, too. I am selling this car because I am going to go to China for the second half of business school and internship and as such I am not near the vehicle either now or in the near future. However, I have a terrific brother in law who is helping me the best he can to sell this car and help the final buyer take ownership, but lets be serious about his skill level, knowledge, or technical abilities; Requests for him to crawl beneath a car and get an accurate picture because someone wants to know a small and unimportant detail about the wing nut on the brake caliper will not be addressed or handled. Happy bidding and the best of luck!
