Vehicle Detail

1991 BMW E30 Series 325i, 4 door Travis Dowell Jr. Charlotte, North Carolina VIN Number WBAAD2312MED29011 Miles: 237,355 (avg. miles of 12K year since new) Salmon Silver Exterior, Black Leather Interior Tinted Windows – Front, Rear, and Sides Automatic Transmission All Power Accessories Near new Leather Interior M3 Suspension and Wheels AM/FM Stereo with Ipod / MP3 jack, Multi Speakers and 1000 watt Power Amplifier Clifford Alarm with Auto Start, Remote Lock/Unlock Custom Black Micorfiber Headliner Dynamat Noise Insulation Enhanced Interior / Exterior Lighting New Tires Fully Serviced – Level 1 and 2 in the last 6 months – Synthetic Oil I purchased this amazing car last summer, took delivery of it last fall, and have enjoyed every minute of owning it, but a truck would suit me better at this time, and my other car is also a sporty 4 door sedan, so I’ve regrettably elected to sell my beloved E30 325 I sedan, named “Bimmy”. “Bimmy” began his life in North Carolina as a new car, according to the registration records, and has had several owners. The previous owner was an executive for Microsoft, based in Seattle, WA, and owned the car for approximately 6 years before I bought it from him last year. He started down the path of making the car an M3, but in 4 door form, and stopped before swapping the engine and repainting the car, due to the fact his colleagues suggested given the expense, he should simply buy a newer M3. That he did. When he reluctantly decided to sell his E30, I found the car on eBay, purchased it, and brought it back to North Carolina. It has been my daily driver, very economical on fuel, and a blast to drive. It gets a lot of looks, as most E30’s were not equipped with 17” rims, but this car has had the fortune of being converted to M3 suspension, so the 5 lug wheels now fit, and look awesome. The rear fenders were rolled to accommodate the large sized tires (205 40 Z 17), which are new. The car has been driven, but also partially restored, with no expense spared. It has always been garaged at night, too. The entire suspension and interior have been completely replaced. The exterior paint was redone at some point in the original Salmon Silver, and the original engine has been serviced primarily by BMW mechanics and/or European car specialists with certification for BMW service. The car runs and drives flawlessly, has no leaks, handles as an E30 should, hugging the road as if it is wearing gloves and gripping every inch of it along the way, has plenty of power, shifts through the gears as it should, and is happy to run each and every time. All of the power accessories, lighting, steering, brakes, stereo radio and new speakers, front power windows, power locks, rear defogger, cruise control, turn signals, air conditioning or heating, power mirrors, and power antenna work perfectly. The interior is nearly new and was fully replaced when the car had 177,000 miles. This included each and every interior panel, the headliner, which is suede, the carpeting, the dashboard, all instrumentation, and all of the seats. The seats (front) were converted to M3, and recovered in genuine BMW leather, with all mechanicals replaced. The rear seat was recovered too in BMW leather. Both are in immaculate condition and look new with no flaws. The lighting in the interior roof was upgraded from the old school lighting to white lighting, along with the trunk light too. The illuminated running lights were installed in the roof so that the dim orange lights would softly glow at night to show the driver and passenger the interior controls in the dark. All of the dash gauges were replaced, tach, odometer, speedometer, temp/fuel, and service board indicators. The radio was replaced with a high tech one that has an outlet that will accommodate your iPod or MP3, or other external drive. The stereo system is very powerful and sounds like a concert hall, given the amplifier and enhanced speakers. The suspension is tight and solid, and drives as if you are driving an M3. The exhaust system was replaced from front to back and manifolds were replaced too. Mechanically, Level 1 and 2 service have been done this year (Yes, I am a fanatic, I know), and the radiator, the timing belt, all seals, all hoses, all belts, all fluids, all sensors, have been changed. The transmission seals and gaskets were also changed. The battery, of course, is relatively new, and the wiring from the battery to the engine compartment was upgraded too. (See picture of battery and heavy duty cables.) The sunroof operates flawlessly. The rear windshield and defroster unit were replaced, along with the front driver and passenger side windows, and are nearly new. I estimate they were replaced approximately 60,000 miles ago. There is no other E30 like this one, perhaps, and least apart from a coveted few like it that have been restored to the performance cars they were when new, and in the case of Bimmy, similar to a much more expensive M3, that back then, only came with 2 doors. Apart from the M3 engine, this might be the only 4 door E30 with M3 suspension and interior! These will, of course, go with the car. The original books and owners manual will also go with the car, along with any receipts that I have currently. I can provide the documentation including contact name and number, e-mail address, of the former owner should any questions arise as to his partial restoration of the car, including suspension and interior, or other aspects. Other items you will be interested in I cannot think of too many aspects of the car that are not positive, but will list the few issues on the car that I know about here. The exterior paint is not show quality, but presentable driver quality. There are chips and scratches that are in sync with the age of the car. The car was repainted at one point, and the current paint appears to be approximately 10 years old, with the exception of the rocker panels and stone guard that I had refinished this year as the existing was cosmetically pretty poor in appearance. Now it looks great! All of the body panels are solid and straight, with no rust. The engine is original and runs like a champ, solid and strong. Most of these are engineered to last 400K miles or more, which is a testament to BMW quality. The valves were adjusted in a most recent Level 2 service, and compression in all cylinders was verified at 90% or better. There is no spare wheel or tire that goes with the car. There are no tools in the tool kit in the trunk. The rear power windows do not work. All switches are new and have been replaced, and we are replacing the motors as well. Waiting for the new window motors to arrive. They will be in the car installed and windows operating by the time of the delivery. A/C system works great but is low on refrigerant. It will be fully recharged and tested, blowing cold for the new buyer. As the car spent life recently in Spokane, WA, where A/C is seldom used, it has had a workout since it has been living in Charlotte, NC and we will recharge the system accordingly. Currently it blows cool but not ice cold. Still too, there is a minor dent in the hood and a very minor scrape on the passenger side front fender. These are minor and I have pictures that depict both, so simply ask. Of course, considering everything else on the car is light years ahead of any other E30, and given the rarity of the sedan, particularly today, these issues are very minor but I mention them to be honest and open about the car’s condition. Finally, 2 of the 4 wheels have minor road rash, which is hardly noticeable but there. I also have taken pictures of these and will send upon request. I have relisted the car after much feedback from the initial auction held a month ago. I have also adjusted the reserve to be competitive and realistic in the current market. Give me a call or e-mail should you be interested in the car and desire to purchase the car with a "BUY IT NOW". I have no problems ending the auction early. My Contact Information I am located in Charlotte, North Carolina, and welcome any and all calls and questions about Bimmy. Shipping arrangements can be made easily from Charlotte, North Carolina 28278 Should an alternative arrangement be needed, please contact me to discuss before you bid.
