Vehicle Detail
74 Chevy LWB 2wd, 350 engine with TH350 automatic trans. Lots of new parts--I bought this truck last August for a project and I have put lots of work and money into it. I had the transmission rebuilt with a shift kit in Dec 2010. It shifts great. Engine has new gaskets on the oil pan, valve covers, and timing chain cover. Also has a new heavy duty timing chain and a new fan clutch. New alternator, battery, and battery cables. New Pioneer cd player with Pioneer 6" speakers in custom built enclosures behind the seat. Also an aux plug for your ipod or iphone. New aftermarket temp, oil pressure, and voltage gauges in dash. New seatbelts from a 2010 Camaro SS, as well as all new carpet. The sill plates are also new. They were missing when I bought the truck. The floor pans and rocker panels have been relaced on both sides. Rust areas have been cut out and replaced with new metal. The patch panels would look better welded in place, but I don't own a welder, so they are attached with screws for now. The seat came from a mid 80's Ford. It fits good, and looks like it belongs there. The seat cover is aftermarket. I put it on there so it would match my black carpet and seat belts. Original seat upholstery has no rips or tears, but its a little dirty and has some stains where it looks like someone got in with grease on their clothes. The dash is covered in black carpeting. It looks ok, but not really as good as I wanted it to. It's still a lot better than the cracked original dash pad. The paint looks good from ten feet away but was done in the back yard, so it's far from perfect. Needs some more wet sanding, recoated, then rubbing compound to bring out the shine and get rid of the orange peel look. The front bumper, bolts, and brackets are all brand new and look perfect. The body is pretty straight with only minor dings except for the right front fender. It had a dent in the passenger door, but it pulled out easily. It still has a crease that will need a little work. Inside of the bed is pretty straight and not rusted out at all. Engine starts up and runs good. It is not the original motor. It came from an 85 or so model and has not been rebuilt that I know of. Carburetor is a vintage Carter 4 barrel. Choke is missing, but truck starts fine even in cold weather. It just needs a few squirts from the accelerator pump. I also have a Holley 4 barrel that I will include if you want it. This truck is an ongoing project and I will continue to work on it and make improvements until it sells. I would also be interested in trades, but only if you have a 4wd truck or suv, or a Jeep. Odometer is broken and speedometer registers 75% of actual speed. A new speedometer drive gear would fix that. Since the pictures were taken, I have painted the back bumper black. It made a big difference in the looks of it. The left rear tire is new. The others hold air but will need to be replaced soon. All in all, it would make a great farm, work, or hunting truck as is, or keep fixing it up and make it as classy as you want. I intended to do more with it, but now I really want a Jeep or 4x4.
