Vehicle Detail

1953 International Harvester RM-120 Panel Truck As America grew after World War II, and the baby boomer generation was expanding exponentially, International Harvester provided the means to get goods and services to a thriving economy through their RM 120 panel trucks. Dairies, bakeries, laundry and dry cleaning, newspapers, even ambulances utilized the RM-120 for low-cost door-to-door multi-stop deliveries. Between 1953 and 1955 International Harvester built 11,754 RM 120 panel vans with a base price of $1658 for the 1953 version. They were equipped with a “Silver Diamond” 6 cylinder engine that produced 90 horsepower @ 3600 RPM’s and a three speed manual transmission that got 18.7 miles per gallon. It is believed that there is only one RM 120 ¾ ton panel truck that is still registered in the United States, and this is it. The VIN is 231233, chassis number is 1951, engine number is SD 220 and has a GVW of 5400 lbs. The truck was originally Dover green from the factory, was repainted black, and now has some original Dover green paint beginning to show through. Presently, the panel truck is used for excursions around town, and for advertising purposes for a high-end clothier. The odometer is not believed to be accurate, however, the mechanical condition of the truck is very good and original, save for a replacement gas tank. The panels under the message boards are copper and are riveted to the side panels. There is some rust on the body as evidenced by the pictures. This rust is not evident on the chassis, in the engine compartment or on the drive train. The tires are as new with 90% of the tread remaining. This panel van could be driven for years to come, restored as it is driven, or completely restored for posterity. Winning bidder to send $1000.00 deposit within 48 hours of auction end. Balance due via certified check or wire transfer within 7 (seven) working days. Buyer responsible for shipping; will assist in coordinating pick-up. Truck will only be released to buyer and/or shipping company when funds clear the bank. There is no warranty expressed or implied regarding this transaction.
