Vehicle Detail
1966 Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 HBJ8L/29509 I’ve owned this car since 1979, and for years it was my daily driver. I did over $18,000 worth of updates and repairs in the ‘80s on it. It wasn’t driven very much at all in the 90s and sat on blocks for the last 18 years. Just got it running - and it still drives very well! It has been converted to tube shocks, spin on oil filter, the valve cover has been replaced with an aluminum one. The original color was British Racing Green. The interior has fairly new vinyl seat upholstery with no wear, and the rest of the Moss Motors kit is there for you to install. The dashboard has been updated to Hawaiian Koa wood on marine ply – looks gorgeous. The paint is chipping in several places, and there is some minor bodywork to be done. There is a little rust, floorboards have been replaced, and there is rust in the bottom of the passenger door pillar. There are approximately 82,000 miles - which I believe to be accurate. There was never a serial number on the engine, but I believe it to be original. The tachometer doesn’t work – even though I’ve had it rebuilt. And the alternator is not charging. This is a negative ground car. The lower bearings have just been replaced, and the oil pressure is good. The overdrive works. As do the turn signals, horn and wipers. Brake and clutch cylinders need to be rebuilt – they work fine, but it’s been way too long. There is no heater. Tires are low-profile Michelin XZX with practically no wear. The top is worn and needs replacement. Please contact me regarding additional pictures or information. This car is a blast to drive – the suspension is tight, as are the king pins. The low-end torque is awesome. The car is located in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle, Washington A good faith $2,000.00 deposit must be made with 48 hrs of the auction close and submitted by PayPal.
