Vehicle Detail
1969 Mach 1 – 428 Cobra Jet Reasonable Rides and Rods presents this rare 1969 Mach 1 Q Code 428 Cobra Jet Mustang. This Mustang comes equipped with the original Q-Code 428 Cobra Jet engine with close ratio 4 speed and 3.25 rear end (see Marti Report). The car only has 83,000 original miles, but underwent a restoration/recent refreshing. This Mustang is presented in Meadowlark Yellow exterior with black Clarion Knit Vinyl interior. The exterior of this Mach 1 is extremely nice. The body was completely stripped at the time of restoration and shot with basecoat/clearcoat Meadowlark Yellow paint. The car doesn't have any rust and never has had any. All new factory graphics were applied. The undercarriage of the car is very nice, but has not been detailed with all of the factory markings. The car is equipped with the original rechromed styled steel wheels. Factory correct transverse muffler and rolled tip exhaust outlets. The interior is very nice. The dash pad is new. It comes with the original and operational rim blow steering wheel. The carpet is new. The front and rear seats are in excellent condition. Non-original radio, shifter and shift knob. It is restored as original except for the non-factory exceptions listed above coupled with modern tires. Details: Original C7ME-A block (VIN stamped) Original Cobra Jet heads Original exhaust manifolds Original carburetor C9AF-M, rebuilt by Pony Carburetors Original cast intake replaced with a period-correct (and more desirable) C7AE Police Interceptor aluminum one. Original rebuilt distributor Correct C9AE water pump Original fan blade and fan clutch Correct smog and emission system Original air cleaner and correct snorkel, tube and heat shield Correct rebuilt Carter X fuel pump Correct RUG-AE2 transmission rebuilt by David Kee Toploader Transmissions Original nodular third member Original 31 spline axles All correct pullies, hoses and brackets This Mach 1 is in exceptional condition and is a great example of a low-mile rare Q code Mustang. The car starts, runs drives and stops excellent. Everything works on this car. Since the undercarriage has not been detailed, the car should be considered a driver and that is not a bad thing. In other words, it is not a trailer queen. However, you are still likely to win many shows based on the quality and originality of the car. In today’s classic car market, this Mach 1 is a great investment. Cars of this quality have held their values quite well. This car is kept in a climate controlled shop and has been enclosed in a bubble when not being enjoyed. Not interested in any trades on this one.
