Vehicle Detail
if you don't bid on this auction, don't be like maxwell smart and have to say "I MISSED IT BY............THAT MUCH". this auction is for a fabulous 1963 sunbeam alpine. it is a series three, which is arguably the most desireable of all alpines, retaining the classic original pointed fin styling, with upgrades such as the revamped trunk arrangement, telescopinc steering column and other upgrades. the series III is also the lowest production of the series, and will always be in high demand. this car wears beautifully sandblasted, balanced and restored factory wire wheels with 3 eared spinners. the wheels are refinished in light silver with a urethane clearcoat, for years of trouble free and easy to clean wire wheels. very nice whitewall tires. the chrome is original on the car and very, very nice for original chrome, the car wears the correct series III badging and emblems. and is quite clearly a quality car. this car's restoration began years ago. a gentleman wanted to have one of the beast alpines out there. he started with an extremely solid, southern california desert car.......with virtually no rust or damage. this car has all its original sheet metal, and has never had any rust anywhere (the one exception was a small area under the drivers seat, which was welded and repaired). it simply doesn not get any more solid or trouble free than this car. the original, matching numbers engine and transmission were both rebuilt, and re-installed in the car. they perform great, and have very low mileage. the gentleman partially disassembled the car, and unfortuneatly passed away. i obtained the car, and vowed to finish the job, and make the old man proud. i had the few minor body imperfections professionally repaired to a high standard, had the trim removed for proper painting, and had the car painted sunbeam carnival red, with a urethane clearcoat, then colorsanded and buffed. the paint is very nice.......not concours quality, but something that you could be proud of at any gathering or show and shine car show. the brake system was gone thru, parts replaced. it has rare factory power front disc brakes. it also has the heater diffuser option. the car wears new carpeting, vinyl trim and new black reupolstered seats with red accent piping on the oem seats. wrinkle finish dash wears a lovely set of gauges and controls. the electrical controls all function. the overdrive speedo will need a rebuild. the telescoping steering is not presently locking. the car has an overdrive transmission, but it is not functioning, and hasn't been a concern, as i drive the car on the freeway all the time, and see no reason for o.d........it drives great on the highway. the car also comes with a hardtop, which is easily removeable. the convertible top frame that is stowed under the metal covers does not have the vinyl covering, as i only drive this car (and all of my convertibles), with the top in the proper position.............down.... to take in all from open top motoring. the trunk is nicely detailed, and comes with its tools..............including the factory engine crank !! and yes, it does crank over easily by hand !! i like doing it just to see the expression on peoples faces. this is truely a car you can turn the key and just drive.........and drive..........and drive. if you've been watching these cars...........you know that their price is on the move upward. good examples will be getting much more expensive, just as it's competitor (austin-healey 100-6) aleady has. several examples have recently sold on ebay in the 5 figure range. i have personal knowledge of one of those cars, and can attest that this car is easily superior. on all my auctions, i place this disclaimer: this is not a show car. it is a 47 year old used car. many people would say that it is in far superior condition than i claim here.......but for the sake of this auction, i claim this car to be of fine driver quality only. please bid accordingly, and feel free to ask questions prior to auction's end. i reserve the right to end this auction early, as the car is available for local sale. if you have less than a 10 feedback, please contact me in advance of your bid, or i will remove the bid and have you blocked from any future auctions. only bid, if you have the means, and intent to purchase the item. those who do not will be hunted down by austrailian sheep dogs wearing cone shaped party hats, and licked mercilessly until they submit to having creamed corn poured down their knickers. trust me.........it's a terrible way to go. i will be happy to assist in having the car shipped worldwide, however, i will not deal with DAS as your shipper...........for your own sake. i have had good luck on very reasonable shipping by seeking quotes thru uship.com. please don't ask me for a shipping quote to you. for your research, my zip code in california is 90808. all payments must fully and completely clear my account before the vehicle will be released. $500 deposit required within 2 days, and balance to be paid within 7 days of auction end, period. 14 days allowed to pick up the vehicle. extended storage for the car can be arranged, and cost for those services can be discussed after the auction. if you are looking for parts, i have a number of spares that you are welcome to inquire about. i wish you luck on the auction.............this is really a nice car, one of the ones in my collection that i have been very, very fond of. shoephone not included.
