Vehicle Detail

1980 Jeep CJ-5 Fully Fiberglass, Fuel Injected, Chevy Powered, Dana 300, Dana 44 Axles, Two sets of Tires, Fiberglass Hard Top, GPS, Etc..... This Jeep starts without even touching the gas pedal, half a crank of the key from standing beside it. Try that with almost any other CJ’s out there… The fuel injection system works extremely well. No stalls on inclines either! It has a new temperature sensor and throttle position sensor that I put in it this spring, due to age, were outside of resistance spec and caused it to run rich… Any items or parts that I describe as new indeed have less than 10-15 hours on them. The body tub is fiberglass, the front fenders and hood are fiberglass as well. The windshield frame, grill and dash are the only metal body parts. This Jeep has custom rectangular tube bumpers front and rear with Reese receivers and clevis eyelets. The cross members are in good condition. Youtube Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7tKJPJgQho Drivetrain is as follows: 350 Small Block Chevy (rebuilt 5 years ago, about 3,000 miles) - 1972 high nickel, high tin 4 bolt block, Holley Pro-Jection 2D 670 CFM stand alone, computer controlled fuel injection system, computer mounted under dashboard on the firewall. All new fuel lines from tank to throttle body this past winter. Street Dominator aluminum intake manifold, cast aluminum valve covers, thermostat housing and timing cover. Accel Billet aluminum HEI distributor with vacuum advace. Accel HEI coil as well. New Delco spark plugs connected to Accel 8.8 wires. Two wire Delco altenator, Pete Jackson "loud" gear drive timing gears, TRW pistons, Clevite 77 bearings, heads trued and hot tanked, short length headers, quality header gaskets, true dual exhaust running inside the frame rails to two Flowmaster 2 1/2" two chamber mufflers that go to above the rear axle. The combination of the Pete Jackson gear drive with the Flowmasters will turn some heads, it sounds great. It also has a Mr. Gasket engine crankcase evacuation system. Summit camshaft. Runs very powerfully, which is probably expected for a short wheelbased, fuel injected V8, fiberglass bodied Jeep. New starter, Optima Red top Battery in new stainless mounting tray. All new gaskets of course, new thermostat as well. Griffin Aluminum radiator with two aluminum transmission coolers. Brand new 16" Torq Flo electric fan with adjustable thermostat controls. Engine is mounted into the frame with Advanced Adapter brand machined engine mounts (not rigged). The transmission is a Chevy 350 Turbo Hydramatic three speed automatic with a B&M or TCI small stall converter. We can look for stamping if you are super curious. Transmission is connected to a gear to gear, Dana 300 transfer case. Attachment is via an Advanced Adapter brand Dana 300 adapter plate. It is a single stick. I changed the oil, oil filter, spark plugs and antifreeze this week when I got it out of storage. Frame and Suspension: Solid frame, boxed from the factory, (not the C channel variant). Not rusty, no breaks or repairs. Crack free at steering box. Jeep does have power steering as well. Rancho shocks, Rancho single steering stabilizer. Skyjacker Soft Ride 3" lift springs with polyurethane bushings, it has not been leaf over converted. It does have a CV joint installed on the rear driveshaft. Universal joints seem very tight. Axles are transplanted Dana 44 front and rear from an International Scout. 4.88 gear ratio as the best that I can remember. We can do a simple rolling check to make sure. Auburn locker in the rear axle. The rear axle also has a skid plate. This Jeep comes with two sets of tire: Set one is well treaded Interco TSL Thornbirds 33 x 12.50 x15 on American 589 style aluminum wheels that are 15 x 12. Set two are mostly worn Super Swamper Boggers, 33 x 14.00 x 15 on Bart Super Trucker 15 x 14 white steel wheels. These tires are regroovable. The rear axle has anti-torque bars that have ball joints, fully adjustable. These bars are not visible except under the Jeep. Body: Fiberglass as I described above. The body mounting blocks look larger than stock for a nominal body lift. Rear tailgate is aluminum diamond plate. Summit Racing buckets with RCI 5 Point racing harnesses. Floor shifted automatic. Six point roll cage. Near virgin uncut Jeep dash (one small boo-boo near the radio hole) Does not have a radio. No rear seat included. Includes a Bestop center console with power point and cup holders (not installed). New heater core, upgraded high speed blower motor (Corvette blower gives 50% increase +/-). It is new as well. The wiring harness is in great shape, free from excessive modifications. Tops: Bestop Sage colored bikini top, Sage colored half doors, Black full canvas doors, Fiberglass hardtop, Fiberglass full doors with sliding windows. I have driven this very little as evident from the small amount of miles since the rebuild. I use it in the spring to mushroom hunt, in the fall for deer hunting and occasionally around the block when the weather is nice. I am getting rid of it due to lack of use. I am an adult, it was purchased from an adult who did a lot of the work on this vehicle. I have not used it as a mud runner or rock crawler… maybe you will, it certainly would make a nice rig for whatever you choose. This vehicle is 30 years old, it is not perfect. There are several things that need minor repairs: The windshield has a crack, the driver’s side view mirror is cracked as well. The rear view mirror is missing. There is some rust on the base of the roll cage at the middle mounts. Some of the lights don’t work all of the time. The heater box, complete with brand new core and blower, are sitting in my garage. I never drove it in the winter and consequently never put the heater box back in. Also the heater box will need new cables to work properly. The Jeep was originally gloss red, currently in red paint that is not so shiny…lets call it “rat rodish”... It doesn’t look bad. The hard top is painted black. As far as the exterior goes, paint, don’t paint it, it’s fiberglass, it won’t rust. The inside is spray lined, not Rhino, but the home variety, still much better than the roll on cr*pI. I hope to find this Jeep a caring owner who can have some fun with it. For what I am unable to convey through the description, I will try to cover with a good amount of pictures… I will also include all spare parts I have for it including: A complete second wiring harness (fuses and inside), Extra grab bar, Extra Speedo, Extra set of plug wires, NIB Headlight switch, NIB Wiper Switch, Extra seatbelt, Overflow Bottle, Washer Bottle and Pump, Center Console, Heavy Duty Clevis, Two extra electric horns, Holley Mechanical Fuel pump, Trickle Charger for storage, Handheld Magellan GPS Unit with manual and new batteries, And anything else that I can find… Additionally this Jeep has a self assembled title from when the fiberglass tub was put on it by the previous owner in Vermont. According to state law, the new fiberglass tube means self assembled. I bet that if you are reading this auction description, that isn’t that scary to you. It has never been wrecked. Please feel free to email me, that is the best way to contact me.. Add up the parts in this listing, it is well worth it. Check Jeg’s for the Pro-Jection alone…it’s expensive stuff… Fully Fiberglass, Fuel Injected, Chevy Powered, Dana 300, Dana 44 Axles, Two sets of Tires, Fiberglass Hard Top, Etc..... Thanks for looking. On May-24-11 at 20:09:36 PDT, seller added the following information: Please feel free to call with any questions or email... Thanks, Tim 614-374-9631 On May-25-11 at 06:55:28 PDT, seller added the following information: A few people have asked.... The hardtop is ACME brand. Thank you for looking.
