Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 1997 Chrysler Town & Country LXi. It is being sold as-is, and will need to be towed. We bought it as an off-lease in 2000, and have been the owners since. We kept up with the maintenance on it until late last year when the break lines rotted out, and decided to take the vehicle off the road at that point. There are no longer plates on the vehicle, and without working breaks, it's not drivable. The engine runs, and the transmission works (the transmission was replaced a few years ago). The body is in decent shape, and has not been in any major accidents. Only major issue with rust right now is on the rear door, where it's typical to see the edge of the door next to the bumper start to rust. I think the AC is going to need a charge, and our mechanic said the steering lines would need to be replaced at some point. It does have a U-Haul hitch installed, but it's only been used once every couple years, so there isn't a lot of stress on the transmission from it. We have the owner's manual, keys (regular and valet), remote (needs batteries, though), and the Pennsylvania title from when we bought it. The title is clear; there are no leins on it. Please let me know if you have any questions. It is available to inspect, but again, without brakes, keep in mind that the best we can do is start the engine, and maybe put it in gear just long enough to get it to move (so you can confirm that the transmission works). Opening bid is a little over scrap value, and has a lot of usable parts, or could be refurbished. On May-14-11 at 11:05:41 PDT, seller added the following information: I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I had the van running for a little while this morning, and drove it forward and backward 15 feet or so in the driveway to make sure the transmission was still working correctly. When I did, though, I noticed that there's a 2ft circle of gasoline on the ground under it. The gas gauge says there's just under half a tank, so this leak must have just started. The buyer will at least have a vehicle that starts and can be put into drive and reverse and have it move, but that's about all I can say about it at this point. I did price the van at a little over scrap value, in the hopes that someone would be interested in working on it to bring it back up to a working condition; it's served us well, and I didn't want to see it go to a junk yard.
